[ Good evening, Mask or Menace! Jaime's back, and while he doesn't look any older, he certainly looks tired and a little sour to boot, like someone just fed him a nintendo switch cartridge real bitter pill. It was a long month. ]

So, um... hey! I'm back. That was definitely the longest I've been ported out for, but I gotta ask: what happened while I was gone? Because I got back, and all of a sudden, like, half of the people I know are gone. Dick's gone, Tadashi's gone again, Fuu's gone, Sarissa's gone, so's my Mom...

Was this just the Porter, or what?

[ It probably is - people tend to leave in waves - but it's left him feeling a little shellshocked, and it's worth searching for answers at the very least. He raises a hand to rub at the back of his neck, playing a little with the hair at the nape. ]

Um, anyway. Good to see you guys who are still here. And for all the newbies, I'm Jaime. Nice to meet you.

Generally being cuddly or whatever. As far as I could tell, that sort of thing.

[Look, Yuu wasn't much for television and that sort of thing was more limited and probably had different channels available in Japan even before the virus hit. So he wasn't much into it, at least until showing up here where he might be trying to make a list and catch up somewhat.

Never mind that Yuu himself is already affectionate enough that he never realized he was affected himself, along with Mika.]

I mean... not as bad as it could be.

[ He remembers what went down with Laurie. That was a bad time. ]

Sounds like you managed to steer clear of it.

Somehow. Got a mouth and nose full of the stuff before Mika helped me get out of there, but. We seemed fine.

[More like the both of them, him with Mika, are already so physically affectionate that neither of them noticed anything strange on their behaviour in the aftermath, since it didn't quite escalate to kissing or anything.]

That's good, I guess. You guys ever figure out what the whole mix-up was about, or...?

I think someone was looking into it. Not sure what they found out yet, if anything though?

[Yuu's just glad it seems to be over by now, really.]

Well, that sounds about right. Thanks for letting me know. I'll put it in my notes. Or I would, if I ever kept up with 'em.

I know what you mean. Between homework and work and everything else that goes on around here, even without someone else from home showing up, it's....busy.

Notes aren't a bad idea though.

Oh yeah? What grade are you in?

[dejerate]

Grade? Ah, right. High school. Twelfth grade, so I'm almost there. But even that's....it's not easy since a lot of this is different. The history and all. Plus, even back home, my education was kind of.....interrupted, shall we say.

[Which has left him kind of all but illiterate, so the homework and such takes him a bit longer than most of his peers.]

I get it. I was in your position, a couple years ago. Just talk to the teachers about needing some help catching up, and you should be all set - and hey, learning history of a new world is way more interesting than rehashing the stuff you already know, right?

[dejerate]

Some of it is similar. Up to a point, I guess. But yeah, I spend a lot of time in the library with homework and my own research anyway. Probably just takes me a bit longer, but I've always been kind of stubborn.

[About a lot of things. Depending on principle or such, with Yuu.]

But I guess I could ask for help for this last stretch or whatever. You're not wrong though. The differences kinda stand out a lot.

I mean, if you want some help, I graduated from high school here. I still remember most of it! I think!

I think I only have a few months left? Or something like that. But if you or anyone else has the time, I could probably use the help.

[He's not so bad with English at least, so this hasn't been as atrocious as his time in class back home, with Japanese, but even so. Yuu does have a lot to catch up on.]

Well, just say the word. If you wanna bluff your way through the rest of it, that's legit too. That's what I did!

You still probably had a better idea of school and all than me. I might take you up on it though. At least to make sure I finish it. I wouldn't have bothered, except apparently I'm supposed to as a minor or whatever and it seemed a way to learn more about this place and all in comparison to home.

[JAIME. Your mother would be very disappointed! And so would Brenda!

Brenda especially, this is why you need your homework planners and all. Gosh.]

You don't have to, y'know. You can become emancipated - that's what I did, and that's what a load of drop-outs do. But it's never a bad idea to get your education!

I figure if I don't have that long to go, I may as well stick with it. Or try to.

[School kind of takes a backseat to things like friends from home showing up, or the usual insanity that often goes down with powers going wonky or villains doing their thing around here. But still.]
