what really defines humanity to begin with to think that one loses it in becoming something additional

most vampires ive met from my perspective arent particularly inhuman

Humans seem to define it with emotions and feelings attached to it. Is that not to be human? To feel and experience those things? Attachments and desire? If you are stripped of emotions and feelings, the very things that humans pride themselves on having, you're not human then in their eyes, are you not?

but that only works within the very limited experience of a terran
coming from a planet where only one species has achieved recognized sapience
emotions and feelings are pretty common among other sapient species
and also wouldnt exclude pretty much any vampire ive ever met
what i mean is the line appears to be entirely arbitrary and this definition youve provided without endorsing is perhaps the most arbitrary of them all

ive only been a vampire for about six and a half years but i wasnt a human before that
im a troll and have always been a troll
being a vampire doesnt make me less of a troll
there are certainly biological differences but i dont think theyre really drastic enough to separate me from the species i hatched as
