[audio] - USING ALIAS TANITH PONTA
So, I hear there are ways for us to learn how to control our .. well, for lack of a better word, powers. Information on such an establishment would be appreciated.

[text to her private inbox rather than the post directly]
i may be getting a new job at the heropa organization for import education
helping imports with their new powers seems to be their focus
so far i like what i see - will let you know as i learn more
-- id like your thoughts on one aspect of this in fact
the school is in heropa
so i either need to move there or register for porter access
[he doesn't want to stop living with Kay and Jyn.
And there's no objective reason not to Register.
But perhaps understandably… the prospect still makes his skin crawl.
But this seems like an opportunity to… use the skills he actually has, and use them for… peacetime. Helping individuals. Directly. Not hurting them.
Some of them skills learned at the cost of childhood, used to help others defend and preserve theirs…?
…and why do these superstitious thoughts keep occurring to him, he swears this is not who he was before Scarif—
(that could be why)
—but the school's acronym, for Ackbar's sake, is HOPE.
Maybe also why he goes ahead and responds at all, even if respecting her new alias (her readoption of, he'll ask about later) rather than waiting to speak in person. He needs to hope, now, that old security precautions… really are… optional.]

[She lets her eyes linger on the portion of text that reads "so i either need to move there" for a long while. Minutes, perhaps. She sets her jaw and manages to come up with a response, trying her hardest - her very hardest - to ignore every ounce of self-preservation that's beginning to scream out somewhere in the back of her mind just about now.]
if you think moving there would be easier ..
though i also don't see any obvious disadvantage to being registered, either. i'd thought about it for a while myself, whether i'd stay registered or not; so far, i have. i'd weighed the pros and cons, and the pros are far more numerous. i've lived the life of barely getting by; i'd rather not have to do it again if it's unavoidable.
[text]
i want to stay with you
["And Kay", thank you? / Yes, mental Kay]
no of course not - you shouldnt have to
theres only one answer - i have no real reason not to and many real reasons to register
i guess its just hard to - reconcile with - my ideas - idea of myself
just wanted to run it by you first to
i dont know
being stupid
[text]
not being stupid, stop.
very much appreciated that you want my opinion and take on things. it isn't lost on me, what that means.
i don't think you'd be betraying any part of yourself, your choices, or your purpose if you register so as to take advantage of what being registered means. it doesn't mean we have to become "superheroes" or soldiers. we never have to fight again. they've made that clear. all it means is that we aren't going to cause upset or trouble for the government, and as such, we are rewarded with housing, porter use, etc.
[text]
A bit of wryness definitely comes through the ether and/or text]
'not cause upset or trouble for the government' - crux of it
[But of course the goal of the Rebellion had been to create a government that didn't need fighting. That would serve and could be uncompromisedly served.
He'd just never gotten to experience such a thing.
Hard as that made it to trust that such a thing really could exist, especially in the form of one other than what he'd specifically been fighting for…
…it's certainly worth testing out.]
but certainly dont want to if theres no need - that was the point of the alliance - and if there were need it would be the compact broken anyway
this helped thank you

I suppose that second option is also viable, though I don't know how readily I am to suddenly reveal all of these things to an entire network of strangers.
[audio]
Well, if you know what your powers are, and the need to master them isn't pressing, you could try training on your own until you find someone with similar powers.
[audio]
I know what they are thanks to the file given to me, and I've discovered two of them. The third has yet to present itself.
The thing is, these sorts of things aren't really .. common where I'm from. So I've no real idea how to begin to train myself on this sort of topic. Physically, yes; I can do that 'til I collapse. But mental powers, not as much.
Re: [audio]
But meditation can be helpful, I've heard.

I suppose some sort of welcome statement is in order. How've you been adjusting so far?
[audio]
I've been... adjusting. Everything is so different here than in my own world. How long have you been here?
[audio]
Still learning and adjusting myself, so don't expect to learn it all in a day or even a week.
What sort of world did you come from?
[audio]
I came from the sort of world where fairies and witches are strangely concerned with the life issues of one young woman.
[Well... this young woman, at least.]

audio ; id says blue beetle ; this is a bit late, so ignore if need be!!
Looks like other people have set you up, but there's plenty of us outside the school who're willing to lend people a hand. I try to help people who need it, so long as they've got powers I'm familiar with. D'you mind saying what you've got, or is this on a need-to-know basis?
[audio]
Two mental powers, one physical - but the physical hasn't manifested yet. Or, at least, I haven't figured out how to make it happen.
