left my baby and it feels so bad--guess my race is run
[Photo: Selfie of Newt and Hermann. The exterior fences, watchtowers, and walls of the prison are in the far background, and immediately behind them is the sign for the federal prison. Newt's pulled Hermann in close, and the hold is tight, clinging, vaguely possessive or desperate...and the kiss Hermann's indulged him in is much the same. It's part victory celebration, part passionate reunion--
Newt, thinking himself a rebel and lacking any sense of decency or tact, is clearly flipping off the sign.
Screw you, government. Hermann's out of prison, finally.]

It's a sincere expression of my feelings on the matter.

..It came out well at least. Likely not a wonderful impression for my probation officer, however.

YOU didn't do it. I did. Remember that if they give you a hard time.

[A thin defense, and a bit concerning after a month spent under threat of near-immediate retribution for relatively minor infractions. But so long as he wasn't doing anything illegal and adhered to his curfew and such, everything should be fine. In theory.]
Can't say as I blame you of course.

[His brief tirade ends and he huffs, navigating the freeway. When he looks back at Hermann, his expression softens and he reaches into the backseat a bit, while still driving--shut up, Hermann, I'm an awesome driver--and hooks the handle of a lunchbag, which he then hauls up towards the front and into Hermann's lap.]
Now, eat something because you look like you need it and I don't want you wilting on me before I get you home.

Suddenly he's very hungry]
Another thing I missed in prison: my husband's culinary capabilities.

Flattery will get you everywhere. Though I'm beginning to think they starved you if you're THIS flattering of my cooking skills...especially for a sandwich. Save it for something really tough or I'm going to get an ego.

They didn't starve us, but the portions weren't generous, barely nutritious, and some of it of course was nearly inedible. I'd have welcomed a fresh sandwich any day.

But I want to thank you for the books you sent along as well as taking time out to visit me and check in on him. If there's anything you need, do let us know.
Re: text;
Did not.

It must be a relief to be out of there. I'm happy for you.
