What the heck sort of worlds do you people come from where they don't have dance halls? Why is it that every time I mention that I used to be a dancer to make money back home, everyone always assumes that I was some kind of stripper?!

My clothes stay on, thank you very much!

Cause most dancers don't get paid to dance in music halls no more. They're on tv or in theater.

I didn't say that there's anything wrong with it, just that I'm not one! And it's sorta a pain when people think I am...

There are many dancers who are not strippers. [ Ballet is extremely popular. Ballroom dancing is as well, there are many contests for that as well. Honestly, it's not a topic Kaneki knows a lot about, but he wouldn't assume "stripper" right away - then again, he is kind of an awkward and innocent guy ] There are many ballrooms and theaters that focus on dancing.

I wouldn't say stripper - though, sure, we are used to more conservative clothing.

Really? I don't really know anything about ballroom dancing... my style doesn't seem like it's classy and snooty-tooty enough for that.

I've enjoyed the clubs I've been to, though.

But people go there to dance for free. Heck, you usually have to pay to get in!

...maybe I am simply old-fashioned, or perhaps it's my world, but it is considered incredibly inappropriate where I'm from to ask a woman if that is her profession. I simply assumed you were from a desert of some sort, albeit not one I know of due to my lack of knowledge regarding non-Russian cultures.

But people just make weird dumb assumptions when I tell them I dance for a living back home. Ugh, it's a real pain in the butt...

There are very few professional dancers of any kind in my world, so I really didn't think that was your profession going off of your outfit. Here, I'll send you something I pulled off of the 'internet' of this world, since apparently the dancers and dance form of my people are still in existence, here. [And he sends her this picture to try to illustrate his point.] That's what a dancer back home would more typically wear, although I suspect the dances themselves are quite different.

Nonetheless, such assumptions are very rude, regardless of what you are wearing. Not all thoughts need to be voiced and even if I were to think something based on someone's outfit, we are in a wholly different world, old conventions of dress and clothing no longer apply.

Oh wow, their dresses are so pretty! [Shantae says admiringly, her hands clasped together.] I've never seen anyone wear a sort of outfit like that! Back home, people just wear this sort of thing all the time; it's not like it's a special performance outfit. I guess it's a little rarer here, though.

I do correct them! It's not like it's people making the same mistake over and over, it's different people making the mistake for the first time every time.

It just gets a little old.

Your clothing choices might reflect your culture or personal style or you wear them because it is hot. That doesn't give anyone the right to upset you over them.
