[ The feed opens up to a young woman sitting behind the counter of a flower shop. Several flower arrangements are lined up behind her, some more artfully arranged - and frankly, more gorgeous - than others.

(They're works in progress, okay?) On the bright side, she's sticking to safe combinations or single-flower bouquets, rather than branching out. ]

Hey, everyone. [ She beams into the camera; first impressions matter, after all. ] I've gotta ask, especially if you've been here a while: what's one thing you wish you'd known when you first got here?

I'm no stranger to parallel universes - trust me, living in Central City will do that to you - but it's still kind of surreal, you know? This doesn't have to be anything life-changing. It can be something small like, oh... I don't know, your new favorite coffee place?

Thank you! [ she beams. ] I'm pretty sure that's why they stuck me here. I have like, no experience with this kind of stuff.

I'm still getting used to the technology here, of course.

[She's still not sure what she thinks about the bus.]

Neither do I. I ever even dreamed of one day living in a world that was not my own.

Me too. Since your world's a lot less "sci fi" than mine, what did you dream about doing?

Having a life of my own, without anybody bossing me around.

But you have it now, right? I mean, unless you have people from your world, you're technically your own boss...

Actually, Lucifer is my boss.

[Yes, that Lucifer. Not that Cinders is familiar with the Bible...]

But yes. It has been wonderful, being able to go about as I please.

I'm glad. Really.

It's one thing having a work boss, 'cause that's totally expected and kind of necessary, but there's a certain freedom in doing your own thing.

Yes, that's very true. And it's not as if he doesn't let me live my own life, so naturally, I don't mind having him to work for.

Exactly. Now, if Lucifer - [she pauses. what an unfortunate name] - if he didn't care, that would be a completely different story.

Well, actually, he doesn't care. But I'll admit, I find that rather refreshing. Before I came here, I was used to being watched like a hawk.

When you're used to that extreme, yeah. I can't imagine what it must've been like... I thought Dad was strict, but looking back? He was pretty fair about stuff.

My father was never strict. He allowed me so much freedom.

Oh. [ . . . ] I'm glad you had someone like him, then.

I am, too. He was wonderful.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about my loving stepfamily.

[Cue sarcasm. So much sarcasm.]

Ew. [ She scrunches up her face in sympathy. ] Which just makes it even better that they're not here, right?

Indeed. Although, I suppose I might not mind seeing my stepsisters.

Maybe. Someday.

[ It reminds her a little of her and her mom, and how they'd only really reconciled on her mom's deathbed. . . ]

Well, no one's saying that you have to. These things take time, you know?

Yes, but time doesn't necessarily heal all wounds. Sometimes, all it does is make things worse.

[Getting a little sad, there, Cinders.]

Oh, no! I didn't mean for this conversation to take such a dramatic turn. I'm sorry.

No worries, Cinders. Thank you for trusting me with your story.

[ She pauses, biting a little on her lip... ]

I would love to. It'd be wonderful to make a new friend.

Perfect! I'll be free anytime tomorrow. [ She gestures towards her mug, ] Or you can come during my shift, but I can't guarantee much.
