I am sure we have all had moments of feeling...helpless here. It wouldn't be too far outside the realm of possibility given the means of our arrival and what little warning comes with it.

Still, I must ask: How does one overcome it? This...listlessness is not exactly something I am used to. Back home I knew what my purpose was, my duty. It was a path I was not to stray from. But here...

Here there is so much possibility that I find myself overwhelmed with choices I would never have had before. And with that comes an uncertainty as to what I am meant to do here. I want to be useful, to help in some way...but what needs are of the largest priority?

I apologize, it must seem as though I am rambling. I suppose I am merely looking for opinions...suggestions if you have them...

I just jumped into this place with both feet, myself. It's helped me adapt quickly, but I'm still trying to find my way. I'd suggest you find something you want to do here and go from there, I suppose.

I've found that keeping busy helps. For many of us, that means our work, but others prefer spending time with others.

I have been trying but...All my life I have been told what I need to do, what my duty to my people is...It's a learning curve of sorts, being able to choose for myself.

Perhaps that's what I should try. I've been trying to work on studying this world but...that can only fill so much time, I suppose.

Perhaps I should try and spend more time at my job...or find something more fulfilling.

What's your job? I know the official ones can be... strange.

I am a waitress...at a pirate-themed restaurant.

I see. And it feels like a waste of your skills?

It does...I feel like I should be doing more. I tried to do my best to help my people back home; to do less here feels strange...

You can still do that here- many imPorts are working together to protect people, or investigate why we're here.

I suppose it's a matter of finding where my skills best fit in. I have been making some notes regarding this world--the people, creatures, weather...anything that might be helpful in the future.

I was not allowed to be all that active back home. When I did leave it was with a guard and almost always for diplomatic reasons...or mediation. So for now, I have been pursuing more scholarly routes.

To overcome feeling helpless, you have to get your sense of power back. For me, that's been as simple as doing things on my own, like working.

I think the biggest need around here is the need to be safe.
