the idea of pooling our knowledge like this was my (probably idiotic) hope
to show how all conflicts are finite and history is pendular
ideally persuade not to bring same conflicts to this new place
doesn't seem to be working
but it's all happened
and i think those who helped it have a right to know

any input you'd like to give
i'd welcome very much

A fine addition to the project, I must say. Thank you for representing my own contributions so faithfully, Cassian.

[Intangibly, nerve-wracklingly, still, the Count's praise always made Cassian start second-guessing everything.

In this instance: Dooku's and Hux's accounts had been the least faithfully recounted. That is, Cassian had altered nothing, but he'd had to do the most excavating for bare bones of data, through many layers (possibly more, definitely more nuanced, in Dooku's) of opinion, judgment and intent. He was still waiting to see what Hux would have to say about Cassian omitting all adjectives.

So he could take this… (1) at face value: Dooku appreciated the premise and thought Cassian had succeeded at it; (2) as sarcasm indicating displeasure; or (3) …something manipulative that Cassian couldn't begin to guess and tried to dismiss as paranoia.

In the end, assuming (1) kept open the most other options.]

i wish i could get as detailed an account at what for you and i would have been the 'future'

[It's (1)- however carefully laundered Dooku's information has been, the Count is satisfied that an outsider viewing Cassian's timeline would still form the impression that the Republic started the Clone Wars and pursued the conflict using questionable methods at best. Which is quite sufficient for Dooku's purposes.]

I would appreciate further knowledge of what transpires in our Galaxy after my time. I hope that you are able to proceed despite these obstacles.

I do not mind in the least. The writing of Galactic history was my great mission in my time. It is only natural that I would wish to discover what results came from that effort, since the Porter has made it possible.

Interesting how you left 34 ABY blank. Avoiding the subject won't change what happened or bring anyone back.

I don't need representation, the strength of the Empire speaks for itself despite your feeble attempts at editing the document. Your efforts to destroy the Death Star was noble but pointless in the end- the Death Stars were only the very beginning.

I was going to name a price but since you've decided to make this Rebel propaganda, I've changed my mind. Suppose you'll just have to be patient, won't you?

I know the Rebellion didn't exactly get the best and the brightest on their side but I'm sure I don't need to point it out what you omitted, 34 ABY being one example.

But at least I will get to write galactic history when I return home. I suppose I'll just have to be content with that.

[Was this a waste of time…? Either Hux was incapable of being sensical or that wasn't his aim. If his aim was to infuriate Cassian, the effective countermove wasn't to point out the contradictions (explained outlier no support of unrelated alleged pattern / so the work you deride is good enough to steal) but to disengage. But was radio silence preferable for someone potentially threatening…? Better maybe to keep playing, to have some kind of line, even if playing against rather than together…? Ugh.

Cassian doesn't miss shooting and being shot at. But for this relationship, it would have been more straightforward.]
