Good evening, imPorts. Gold, here. If you've spent any time in Heropa, you may have come across my shop -- an occupation assigned me when I arrived here. However, I am pleased to announce I will be taking on another, thanks to recent events.
Having passed the Florida bar and taken care of all other necessary arrangements, I am now officially a licensed attorney. More to the point, I will only take on imPorts as clients. I have some years experience in criminal law, from my last residence, as well as many more in contract law.
[ Hooray for 28 years' worth of curse memories that happened to include law school and a career before he settled down and became the world's crankiest landlord, on top of -- y'know, several centuries as the human embodiment of Dark Magic and running all your deals on contracts and loopholes. ]
But after months of tireless study, I can bring that experience and expertise to this world.
...For us, anyhow.
I remain based out of my shop and am available by appointment.

Action - Locked to Doc Brown, Set About a Week Before This Announcement
He didn't know if this would work, but he knows if he puts his license to use, he's drawing attention to himself. He might be putting him right in the middle of all the nonsense he goes out of his way to avoid. This would mean danger at the worst -- constant irritation at its least offensive.
Doc knows he's been studying -- it's filled most of his evenings, even when he's been over here for dinner or to sleep over -- often falling asleep on whatever book he's been pouring over. ]
no subject
Kepler and Christmas perk up at the sound of his distinct footfalls, and before Doc is halfway up the steps he hears eager paws at the door. It takes a moment or two to find the right key, and then he's nearly bowled over---as usual. Once he coaxes them to let him by, he spots Gold and smiles. They've hardly had time together lately---
for their good reasons, he knows, but he's missed him.
"Hello, dear," he greets with the same chipper enthusiasm as always. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"
no subject
"More than the usual for once."
As is apparent by the fact that there's nothing cooking on the stove, or readily prepared.
"I have some news, but I don't want to trample you the second you step in the door."
no subject
"Is everything all right?"
no subject
This is just one more thing that cements that decision, the domestic aura this whole scene has -- going to sleep next to this man almost every night, greeting him when he comes through the door. He's doing more than staying invisible, more than he's done in a very long time.
It's really starting now.
Gold sighed. "I passed the bar exam."
no subject
"That's wonderful," he whispers. "I never doubted you would. Still catching up on your rest?"
no subject
But he has a mind to lean on the latter.
"I think I'd like to celebrate," he says. "If you're not too tired."
no subject
"Anything in particular you had in mind?"
no subject
The dogs got their walk earlier. So for all their flattened ears and eager sounds, they were adorable liars.
"If you're up for that, of course."
no subject
"Not a problem at all. We'll get you the finest meal there is."
Well...that he could afford. He maintained enough of a budget that occasional splurges wouldn't break the bank, but he knew the man had fine taste. He could indulge that tonight.
no subject
Gold steps away, leaving him to his own devices, whether he wishes to freshen up a bit or just drop anything he brought home somewhere safe. He's dressed as he always is, a nice suit -- not all black as it often is. Summers in this place simply don't allow for such a thing.
no subject
Doc takes the hint and retreats to his room, allowing the eager dogs to follow. You'd think he never pet or played with them, given the way they carry on---but that's just their way, he supposes. He pets them up until he needs to wash up and change, and then he spends a minute combing that hair back into place.
He reappears in khakis and a surprisingly subdued green collared shirt. They're not going black tie, so that's enough dressing up for him, and he's strangely excited when they step outside.
"So what's your craving tonight?"
no subject
He seems almost optimistic, for him. Still cautious, but in the moment.
"Let's try something new. It's always more interesting when we do that."
I lost this tag sorry >>
"Indeed. Something heavy might suit for the occasion...and a tongue-twister as well, you're excellent with those," he laughed. "Your opponents on the other bench will have something to worry themselves about."
But would Gold also have something to worry about, given the clients he'd be helping and opposing? He looks over, frowning at the thought of it, then shakes his head. It would have to be all right.

Secondly, that's wonderful timing. Newton was just saying that perhaps I should hire you to iron out the details of a possible upcoming contract.
voice;
...Or we can arrange to meet elsewhere, at your discretion.
