I feel it only sporting to warn you that I am going to be re-routing a small percentage of funds from various bank accounts in the next forty-eight hours.
I have little interest in hitting the personal accounts of my fellow imPorts, but those of you with large enough holdings in corporations probably won't miss much. Still, if you can make it a significant hassle I'll probably move on to softer targets.
[ There is a brief pause and then a quick follow-up. ]
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good tea cafe?
[ Because why wouldn't you give people a sporting chance to protect their money and ask about tea in the same message? ]
[OOC: Couple of notes:
1) Harold is literally only going to be getting very small sums from any one account. Like ... literal pocket change, as he is signifcantly capped for the amount he can purloin in a month.
2) From a PC perspective this is entirely opt-in. I have no expectation of Harold hitting ANY PC accounts, no matter what he says ICly, be they personal or corporate. However, if anyone would like to do something with this, feel free to hit me up here or if you want to talk specifics, PM me at

3) This is more of a lark, than any serious data breach. Bear eats expensive kibble!! ]

[ He's not used to hacking hackers who are as skilled as he is. And there are no large deductions coming or going from any bank, and no large net of deductions going to the same place. This anon is good. ]
i gotta wonder. whats the aim here? youre not getting rich off of this.

[ He might be genuine in that sentiment. Harold was not without his pride when it came to hacking, but it was probably more playful than anything.
But just for fun, he quickly executed a little knot of code, a maze to work through, to entertain Cisco. It was a gesture of respect. ]
Getting rich would have been nice, but the systems in this world are significantly advanced. I'm finding them a delightful challenge, but it has slowed me a bit.
How about yourself? What do you make of this world's technology?

its about on par with my own earth. well... that is if you dont count the nanites and the teleporters.

The knot gave him time to lay some traps. Again, nothing debilitating, but if Cisco was working on this issue from his home system, depending upon how well he's insulated his box against the rest of his house, he may be finding his lights flashing on and off.
If he did, it would be easy for him to disable. No more than a minor annoyance. ]
While convenient I'm not sure how I feel about the 'porters. There is something decidedly unnatural about breaking down at the molecular level and then being reassembled.

[ Cisco jumps when his lights suddenly start flicking on and off. That nearly gave him a heart attack! He takes the time to separate his home systems from his connection and buries himself in proxy servers. If anything, he should be glad that he's turned the anon's attentions away from the bank heist and towards himself, but, well... he doesn't like being fucked with. ]
thats some stranger things shit. is that why i cant trace you? youre hacking from the upside down?

Good deduction!
[ He would definitely recognize talent when he saw it. Also he was reversing himself even as he typed to Cisco. He suspected that keeping ahead of this young man was about to become an effort and Harold inwardly ran down his exit strategy for when the time came.
For the moment, however, he established a few more layers of proxy servers and left some very live breadcrumbs down false trails for Cisco to chase. ]
Do you do this for a living?

Dig a little deeper, and he'll find his screen unable to show anything but a long line of:
this? no, man. this is my hobby.
no subject
Well played and excellent work for a hobbyist. I do hope you use your powers mostly for good?
[ There would be a pause, from the normal text and then this is what would feed back to Cisco's screen from the proxies he was utilizing. His home system was most likely safe, given his skill, but if he wanted to keep those proxies of his intact ... think fast! ]
[ooc: In case Google translate fails: "Isn't this fun? You're very good, you should be able to solve this in under 5 minutes but I've given you 10 before the proxies you're using lock to this code." ]
no subject
The rest of his allotted ten minutes is spent laying intense firewalls around his proxies, then copying the Anon's nasty bit of translation code and firing it back, albeit slightly altered. ]
[ ooc: "dont you worry, im firmly on the side of the heroes. you know, the people who stop bank robbers.
same deal, hotshot." ]

Harold has that small smile on his face and he genuinely wishes he could talk more with this one, but he recognizes a hound closing in. It's time to cut bait. ]

[ With that the transmission lines that Cisco may have set his tracking algorithm to chase down disconnect. Not only do they disconnect, they proceed to cannibalize themselves so as to leave no trace. ]
[ooc: Very well done!
Sometimes the line between the good guys and the bad becomes blurred. Intentions and actions get messy and while you try to stick to certain rules, that's not always possible.
It's been nice conversing with you, I mean that. But I'm going to shut down before your clever algorithms get any closer. ]

Cisco decodes the message just as the connection severs, and he slams his hands against his keyboard in frustration as his algorithms reach a dead end.
He's left with a weird feeling of catharsis, having gone head to head with someone who's clearly as skilled or even better than he is. It's the same sort of feeling he had when he met Gypsy. Except he doubts the anon is a hot babe who's out to kill his friend. In any case, he pushes his desk chair back away from his desk, and sighs.
Bye, I guess. ]
