Jacob Taylor here. I've got an update on the investigation into the OTO. That's Otherworld Technologies Organization for the new people on the Network: they're a group that's been responsible for a lot of the bad things that have happened this year. The report is here for anyone who wants to take a look at it.
If you're going after the OTO, be careful. They're seriously bad news. But we need to keep chasing them down, before they hurt more people. The government's been supporting our operations so far: they're on our side on this one. If you find anything out, you can tell me or another member of the RISE team.
That's not the only thing I wanted to talk about, though. Last week, a friend of mine took a life in combat. He's facing the consequences for it now. I've done the same thing plenty of times, in the military and out of it. And I know some of the OTO's scientists didn't survive the raid on their cloning facility last month.
It's a heavy thing to deal with. Sometimes it's necessary. But a lot of people think imPorts are dangerous right now. If we do too much damage, we're going to risk proving them right about us. Doesn't matter if it's because we're battling bad guys.
I think this fight with the OTO is just getting started. It's not going to be the last time we have to make those kinds of choices. And we need to work together if we're going to beat them. I figure that'll be easier if we're all clear on where we stand. About what we're willing to do to get it done.
So here's what I want to ask you: would you kill, to save a life? Or is that going too far for you? And how do you want to hold people accountable for something like that?

Voice;
We have to police ourselves. Otherwise, innocent people get hurt when we go out of control.
Voice;
[But she's not going to deal with another one of those things while she's here, period, the end.]
So, you've apparently killed people before, if your charming little paragraphs are to be believed. How did you get punished? Or was it okay because you had a uniform on?
Voice;
It's not about the uniform. It's about what it represents. It means I answer to a chain of command that leads back to the people I'm supposed to protect. They keep me in line. That's one of the differences between someone like me, and the people we fight.
Voice;
Ahhh, so you're suggesting we all what? Vote on who gets to wear the magic uniform and slap our wrists when someone antagonizes us? Play Officer of the Day? Or maybe we won't trade off at all and just trust that one person can make the right decision every time. Oooh I hope it's a straight white guy, they make the best choices.
Voice;
I just don't like people getting murdered. Some of us need to be willing to step up and hold that line. And they have to be willing to play by the rules that say where that line is. It's not easy, but it needs doing.
Voice; (UGH I'M SO SORRY, I lost the notif on this one. D| My bad!)
People threaten other people, people get murdered, that's just how life works. If these people don't want to be in somebody's crosshairs, maybe they should mind their own business.
No problem!
It comes from being willing to work with the government. They're the ones who sanctioned the latest operation against the OTO. They're also the ones who represent the ordinary people who keep getting threatened and murdered because of our bullshit.
Don't know if you've noticed, but minding your own business doesn't keep anyone safe. The last time the OTO hit, hundreds of people died. They didn't do anything to end up in the crosshairs. They were just there.

Yeah see, you're saying letters, I have no idea what any of that actually means. Or whatever 'hit' you're talking about.
But I do know that people end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. I've been in the wrong place at the wrong time and paid for it. Shit happens. Shit will always happen no matter how hard you try to convince us to hold hands and sing one more round of Kumbaya.
And I'll tell you right now-- I'll be dead before you get me to work with any government. So if this little plan of yours involves getting everybody on board, you're going to have some blood on the field. And from the direction this is going in, I'm guessing you'd prefer it belonged to people who had no say in coming here, but have to 'be better' for Reasons with a capital R.

[Deep breath.]
And I said what the OTO is. It was the second sentence I typed up there. They're the ones who keep attacking the Porter cities. But none of that means a thing to you, does it?
Don't worry, though. I'm not planning to draft anyone into anything. It wouldn't be right. More importantly, you couldn't pay me enough to work with someone like you in the field.
