Um. Hi.
[It's been a long time since she's had much in the way of technology at her fingertips, and it feels weird returning to it. There's not much showing it in her face, however, beyond a slight frown as she stares at the camera; the hesitation is mostly in her voice.
She's a teenager, fine-boned, with two scars framing her eyes and a yellow pashmina scarf wrapped around her neck. There's a slight Southern drawl to her words. They're all coming out like she prepared them in advance.]
I'm Beth. I'm new here. When they brought me in, I got powers, and one of them lets me change scars. Move them around, change their shape. I know a lot of imPorts probably have them, and...you know, maybe you don't like them. If you want, I can make them easier to live with. I won't charge you anything for it.
If you're interested, let me know. I'm in Nonah, but we could meet up someplace else, if it's important to you.

So, by change shape, you mean you can make scars into - what, like pictures and stuff?
no subject
Yeah. It's...mostly simple stuff... [She's reticent to show off the one she's been experimenting with--the ones on her face remain unchanged--so she gives a little shrug.] But it depends on how many you have. And how big.
no subject
Gotta ask, though: You okay? Need help or anything? 'Cause... can't help noticing you look a little roughed up.

[It gets a little smile out of her.]
Okay, I guess. It's pretty nice here. [A moment's pause.] Have you been here a while?
no subject
[ She smiles back in turn, makes a slight gesture of not really. ] A month or so. It feels like much longer already. There is a great deal to learn about this place and to adjust to.

[A pause]
What about scars where something's missing, can you help with that? Like scars from a..from an amputation?

Just physical scars?
[She asks the question without thinking but now she can't take it back.]

[Beth stops herself after one syllable stutters out, blanching as she stares at the screen. It's not her--it's not, her voice is wrong, and her hair, and something in her face, and--
And that's not what she would say. Not what she would ask. Maggie would want to know where Beth was. Maggie would be crying, and she wouldn't be afraid or ashamed to show it.
Beth's chest feels like it's caving in. After a moment, during which she considers curling up in bed for a few minutes and burying her face in a pillow, she realizes the feed's still on.]
...I think so. Just. Physical scars.

Hi, Beth. I'm Justine. I'm new, too.
[ And she turns her head to reveal the nasty, barely healed bite mark on her cheek. Not the best place for a giant scar. ]
Can you do anything about this?
no subject
[She stares at the mark, pressing her lips together. It's an ugly one, fresher than the scar she's been practicing on. It looks, she realizes with a twist of sympathy in her gut, like it still hurts.]
I could try. What do you want to do with it?

[Because belly buttons are technically scars.]

I don't know. If you had one, we could test it. [There's a pause.] Why don't you have a belly button?

Yours is an interesting gift. Have you tried it on difficult cases? I'm curious what happens to the injury itself.
no subject
[A professor? She's mildly curious now, whether he's asking out of some kind of academic interest or if it's something more important than that.]
I've only tried it on myself. [And only on a simple cut, one that's definitely not a simple case. ] But if someone wanted, we could find out.
