003. video.
Two things happened, on the day of this past Swearing In. The first is what we all know to be true, which is that fire ravaged the woodlands, putting lives in danger. The second is what you may have heard through hearsay, or seen on social media, which is that a dragon was responsible.
[ Daenerys draws up her posture. Displeased, imperious, and no apology forthcoming. If she is angry, it's the kind of anger that has largely run its course, and now smolders away beneath the surface. ]
There was a dragon, that day. He was found barely conscious, in amongst the fires. Being of the fire-breathing kind, the conclusion is natural. But it is also wrong.
The dragon has a name, Drogon, and he is mine. He came with me to this world, and will leave with me when I one day depart it. His actions can be considered my actions also -- that is how closely our bond is entwined. And I know he didn't set the forest ablaze, that day, or any day. He's lived peaceably in De Chima for months, now.
[ But she is getting angry at some invisible accuser, rather than addressing a neutral audience and pulls back from her own ire. ]
Someone did him harm, and I would go so far as to say that whoever harmed him might also be responsible for the fires. I know that many of us mobilised to help, and if you have any information, or if you saw anything strange, I would know it, please. Or, if you know who was responsible, I would know that too.
[ Ire ends on a wry note, then, but no less serious. That taken care of, she pauses, and adds; ]
Accusations and blame are their own kind of wildfire, and misinformation spreads swiftly. I've begun an attempt to control and form discussion online between imPort and native, and so if any of you have social media presence or interest, you'll find use of the hashtag FightingFires over Bwitter, and the like. Make use of it. Perhaps, if one group deigned to speak to the other openly, there'll be less room for these kinds of incidents in the future.
[ There is much she isn't saying, but she has said all that she had intended, and ends transmission there. ]

thts awful
[Take it from someone who has a fire-breathing dragon buddy of his own - in De Chima as well, no less.
[He can't help but wonder what sort of things people would think if it had been Charizard who had ended up unconscious in the forest. The idea that they might have blamed him makes Red feel absolutely sick.]
is he ok now?

How badly was he injured? Do you have any idea who did this?

[Who is this frail waif of a woman? She looks young, quite young. A blossoming maiden in full bloom but those eyes. Jack stares at them for a moment. They're just as fiery as the beast she allegedly owns. There's no doubt in his mind that she's friends with Red. The boy also owns a dragon of some sort but he fears what kind of monster this "Drogon" is.
The name alone doesn't paint a pretty picture.]
With such ire, you would be Calypso herself... [The pirate mutters under his breath.] Not one for apologies or reassurance, eh?
You're poised for war.

[ But only one she is responsible for.
Her study of this stranger down the video feed is hard, bridled, barely patient, and a little unsure as to what he, in turn, is looking for or sees. ]
Drogon has, before, avenged me tenfold. I intend to return that favour.

I want to know if I have your permission to tell them that he's been livin' on the land behind my home, vouch for him by sayin' that I trusted you both enough to have him as a neighbor. But I also don't want to put either of you in more danger by givin' idiot hunters a clue to find him.

[ And there is certainly a slightly dark undercurrent in her tone that implies she is absolutely fine with them doing so.
But mostly, exasperation. It wouldn't solve anything in the long run. ]
I'm not sure giving up the location of his sanctuary is worth it.

[Spooky's tone is gentle and reassuring. Of course, someone with Daenerys' regal bearing, impressive poise, and unbending will is undoubtedly more interested in taking action than receiving comfort. But still...it's in his nature to try putting others at ease, especially those he aims to help.]
For what it's worth, I discovered a few things that might be useful.

[video] ; open to threadjacking by other investigators
I've got some information, from talking with witnesses, but there isn't much that's reliable. A lot of them were pretty hopped up on adrenaline during the fire. [This is the kindest assessment he can give. Some of them were straight up lying to him and to everyone else who asked.] Do you know anyone else who's been investigating? Maybe we could pool our resources, or at least figure out where to start.
[His own experiences with witnesses seem to match up with what this guy's. Nothing reliable. All super conflicting. Damn.
At least they've still got other avenues to explore.]
Do you know about the native campers who were found near Drogon? Those people were in a similar state of exhaustion. Whoever knocked Drogon down for the count, probably hurt those guys too.

You expect anyone to believe you? You’ve a dragon, injured, but the fire was no cause of his? Because you have a bond.
[ He smirks, an action that seems tight and forced. The direwolves, bound as they were to the Stark children, reacted strongly to their emotions. He saw Grey Wind take off two to the Greatjon’s fingers when Robb was in a particularly nasty mood. He wonders if dragons don’t work the same way. ]
And people think me the liar when it comes to flames.
[ Yes, he sees people are believing it but he has to be the odd one out because he’s a real piece of work. ]

A bond, as a mother has a bond with her children, so I have with my dragons.
[ That's the kind of thing she knows is an easy mark to mock, too, but it's spoken with serene confidence. ]
If Drogon burned down this world entire, I'd have no cause to lie, Greyjoy. It would be my will.

Mm, I trust you. I don't think... ah, we don't have dragons, where I come from. But every animal has a reason for doing what it does... and if it's true that he's been living peacefully and not even conscious, it's not right to blame him.
I don't have too much of a following... but I'll definitely use "FightingFires". Every bit helps.
Is he--um, "Drogon"... is he alright?

[ When making her post, Daenerys wasn't entirely confident that anyone but her own friends would have care for the fate of her dragon. It inspires her to lower at least a few of her hackles, that strangers seem to. ]
Thank you. Were you present, during the blazes? Or-- harmed, rather?

[ A brief pause, as Krennic considered what he already discovered. ]
But someone, another ImPort and investigator, suggested that it was possible someone else started the fire, so there might be some merit in your words, since he said that this isn't the first time. I'm inclined to believe that someone local started it and conveniently blame it on the ImPorts. But I'm- we- we're still trying to find them.

But if you say it wasn't him, I'll take your word for that. A dragon would be easy to lay blame at, particularily when there's fire involved.
[ In which case, it was working.
and, a pause. ] Is he alright?
no subject
[ Rest assured. ]
He is recovering. But he eats, and sleeps. Signs of healing.
[ She pauses, and adds; ] I also wanted to thank you. [ By the time she rolls up on the scene, it's all too likely she will barely have time for such courtesies. Now seems appropriate. ] I heard tell of your bravery. I know I rush to the defense of my dragon, but I know as well as anyone who dangerous they can be, especially when confused, or hurt.
So you've my appreciation, for helping protect him from doing harm, that day.

Even when filtered through the network, Daenerys' aura is impressive. She projects a rare kind of presence and power he can't help but admire.
As much as Klavier wants to assist in finding the truth, however, he doesn't reach out to her right away. His "clues", if they can even be called that, are unconventional. Back home, they'd never be useful. Except for, perhaps, pinning the blame on him.
Ultimately, he can't stay silent for too long. Silence doesn't suit him anyway.]
Good evening. [The usual German that peppers his speech is absent for now. Despite some of his misgivings, his smile is kind.] My name is Klavier Gavin. I may have some information regarding the culprit's motives.

[ Acknowledgement and greeting in one word. She is adept, as noted, in how she presents herself -- but a part of her specific way of going about this is her inability to keep her true emotions entirely off of her face.
So, hope and wariness in equal measures are mingled beneath the surface. Motive sounds promising. ]

What kind of wounds did Drogon have?
[ Aurican never met Drogon before, but he's seen the various footage and pictures from the internet. Not a dragon of Krynn, something different, something he can't possibly converse with with his own tongue. Which is disappointing. ]

[ She understands the concern, and not only due to the placement of blame. The attack on one dragon could mean the attack on another. This, and with the natural response in talking to a child, gentles her manner. ]
He was only weak, and unable to move, or properly wake up. I thought he might have been poisoned.

Pardon, miss, My name's Gambit. I did a little look around, that morning and later. I found a few things, and... wasn't sure who to tell, but you seem to be the best to tell.
[ He waves a hand, as he explains. ]
I found where Drogon, that was the dragon, right, okay. Where Drogon's hindpaws were, when he was sleeping that night, I noticed there were claw marks, which suggests that Drogon was thrashing around in his sleep at some point. Not to say he is an animal, mind you, but I've seen similar signs when animals are distressed, or feel threatened.
I also noticed, while looking at the ground where Drogon and nearby people were sleeping, except for those claw marks there were no signs of tossing or turning. p[eople normally make a lot of disturbance, even when they don't toss a lot. And no one remembered waking up at all that night.
Taken together, that all makes it seem like something made people sleep deeper than normal. Maybe even to unconsciousness. Asking a few questions tells me that everyone in the area felt weak the next morning. Was Drogon? [ He waits for an answer, curious now. ]
no subject
Then she does, because he did ask her a question. ]
He is, still. I imagined it like a sickness from which he is still recovering, but perhaps it is simpler than even that.

[Video] (Sorry this is so late)
[ Adachi frowned, still having trouble piecing this one together, mostly because he had been distracted by the fires. Look, if this had happened before that damn haunted house, this would have been so much less of an issue. Dying by fire sucks. ]
Your buddy wasn't the only one found in the condition he was in. Some natives were found in the same area in a similar state.
no problem!! it is i who is late.
[ She isn't entirely certain what to do with that information; theories abound. Hers turn to the more magical, than mundane, but-- ]
I wonder if it means anything, that they were only natives.
