Video; Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

[As usual, Dio prefers addressing the public with his face attached to it. And also as usual, he needs some dramatic lighting and today that is a desk lamp that is giving off a blue light.

He's sitting in his Maurtia Falls office, next to the library, though it's the dead of night, so seeing the surroundings isn't really easy to do.]

I know we're all very distracted right now, but frankly I can't take this anymore.

I'll be honest. I'm a creature of the night, and cannot walk in daylight, which is usually quite alright, but I find myself tiring of doing the same activities night after night. If I continue to frequent bars I fear I may come off as alcohol-dependent, and I'm not a criminal, so that's right out for nighttime activities.

So tell me, what is there to do over the course of a night? What more should there be? Should we be taking the fact that some of us are nocturnal into account when planning activities, and if we do, what would be the solution? Running businesses for 24 hours would likely come at great cost for employers, so that may not be feasible.

For those of you who are perhaps not strictly nocturnal but may stay up until the early morning, what kinds of activities or businesses would you be most interested in being open over night?

I've my work, though it closes at 2am. [ though with cleaning and closing up, he usually leaves around 3am ]

I train during the night, though I don't know if that is something most would do daily. [ kaneki does because kaneki is kaneki ]

I think nocturnal grocery stores and coffee shop - not bars - are welcomed for people who prefer the night. It's a shame libraries aren't open, because I know I'd spend there a great deal of time.

I usually train alone, but if you ever need a partner, I wouldn't mind sparring with you.

[ kaneki hums ] I'm certain there would be some, not everyone prefers to work during the day I believe.

And well, even if we are a minority, I still opened up a coffee shop for imPorts like us. [ in other words ] I think in this case it'd be a lot easier than what i've built. [ libraries, coffee shops and grocery stores open during the night work for all sort of people; students who have an exam, people with insomnia, those who are waiting for another shift to start, people who get hungry during the night. It's a lot less restrictive than a cannibal café ]

i'm not sure there's a lot of natural nocturnals
but i mean i guess it doesn't matter WHY you're up in the night when you're still up
usually i take crobat out but it does get boring
when are you most active?

Have you perhaps considered the theatre, or opera? There are many shows worth seeing in Nonah and Maurtia Falls, and some of them run quite late into the evening.

I recently viewed a production of Macbeth at the Maurtia Falls theatre. The venue is decorated exclusively in red and black to reflect the dark passions of the play. I found it quite stirring.

i've always been a sucker for dead-of-the-night movie theaters. there's none here, but three AM is a great time to stuff yourself full of popcorn and watch depressing movies leftover from a bygone era. god knows the one back home turned a profit providing a place for depressed schmucks to hang their hat and pretend they weren't insomniacs.

plus a tidy profit gets turned on snacks, too. around one in the morning people start buying things just to kill time and give their mouths something to do.

i figure the cost to run one would be minimal. a theater doesn't need more than one employee for the late night/early morning crowd and teenagers will work for damn near nothing. guess the real issue here might be finding a space? idk. it's a thought worth entertaining either way.

you'd get crossover profits from hipsters if you put it in a town with a college. college kids love thinking they're artsier than everyone else and nothing ranks up their internal sense of le artiste tragique than taking in old movies. and hey, if you have a friend who might be into it, that makes it semi-social.

unfortunately, and i speak as a chronic insomniac, there's not a lot of nighttime activities that involve actually engaging with other people that aren't just bars/parties/clubs/that whole subset of tired cliches. tough break, man.

It's easier to sleep at night.

Though I am kind of surprised there aren't more vampires around. With how endless reality can be, you think there would be more.

I've always been frustrated by the hours the bank keeps. Not that it's an activity that provides entertainment, but if I wish to catch it before they close, I often have to interrupt what I'm doing or go during lunch at my job.

[ A shake of her head. ]

I can't imagine how you managed to make it there in the summer when it gets dark later.

I can imagine. I have a preference for night myself, but if I were unable to go out during the day, I wouldn't get to tend to my garden.

[ She seems wistful. Flowers are so very important to her. ]

Have you always been nocturnal? Or was this something that changed over the course of your life?
