Flat Robotic Voice: (ala speech-to-text) Do Jedi protect people or would you let innocent people get hurt for some idea of "greater good"?

Kanan Jarrus: Protecting innocents is the greater good. That's what we're called to do, as Jedi. The Force has granted us these gifts, these abilities. In my world, Force-sensitives can do things other people can't. And so it's our job to protect those who can't protect themselves.

Robotic Voice: Anti-Jedi. Would you protect people with your life, or would you let them die for some "greater good"?

General Grievous: It is not my duty to protect the people of Earth yet you will condemn me for not sacrificing myself for just any cause.

[More nonsense. Dooku sighs before engaging the video.]

I see nothing wrong with the General's answer. ImPorts are no more obligated to involve themselves in this planet's battles than the people of Earth are needed to be caught up in conflicts from our own Galaxy.

Our lives should be our own, to live as we see fit.

That would depend upon the nature of the war. I have fought before in defence of these cities and their inhabitants. But I have also seen war brought here by those targeting imPorts specifically- by a power that sought to control our power to serve their own idea of a 'greater good.'

[They also tortured and brainwashed Dooku into being their minion, but he won't mention that.]

We suffered and fought alone for weeks. The native goverrnment was slow to aid us. I have not forgotten this.

[Dooku takes a breath.]

Very well. I will stand ready to assist in the protection of the Porter cities and those who dwell within, so long as my contribution is through choice and not conscription. However, I cannot and will not be made responsible for the lives of natives throughout this planet- that would require power that even I do not possess.

[Yet.]

Does that answer satisfy your sense of Jedi morality?

[The Count is fairly certain this cranky interlocutor is not a Jedi, but perhaps he can make use of this provocation to further muddy the waters.]

I must correct the premise of your question. In a situation where my powers were deactivated, I admit that I would be of little use in defending anyone. I'm afraid I am now far past the years in which I could simply pick up a weapon and join the fight. That grenade would surely destroy me.

But if you want to know if I would commit suicide for a chance at protecting strangers, the answer is I would not.
