Well, this has certainly been a more eventful holiday season than most I've experienced. I thought that honor would go to the December the prisoners at the penitentiary I worked at managed a week and a half siege with the guards. Thankfully that ended before Christmas itself.

If I remember one of them did get eaten by an alligator, so that certainly was unpleasant for morale at large.

Regardless, I'm afraid this isn't simply a post to reminisce over past holiday disasters. Is there anyone here who has a power that may... hm, how should I put it? Help with the problem of amputation?

Yes, the prison is actually situated in Florida- the Florida of my world, at least. It's surrounded by swamp and completely cut off from the mainland except for a well guarded bridge.

It doesn't exist here, which I suppose isn't all that strange. Regardless, around six days in the food those prisoners had stockpiled began to run out. One of them, I was told, thought to extend the time they had by going hunting in the swamp by the courtyard at night.

Two made it back with some disturbing injuries and one, well... we found what was left of him when I insisted on a proper search party. I suppose something else may have killed him but the alligator certainly had a meal of him after.

This is forward-dated after the Count's return, btw!

an old injury reopened and, unfortunately, there was little to be done to save the arm by the time i managed to get help

prosthetics are likely the best option, though you never know with the strange abilities many have
so you're one of the healers? i know archie is and he seems quite busy
i hope you have been taking care of yourself as well as others during this trying time

im trying but i cant actually heal myself so its been a struggle haha

Yes, Dio has taken excellent care, though I am very bored with all this rest. I would like to get back to work as soon as I am able, this is the season people need help most. I was thinking of handing out blankets soon at least, that shouldn't be too strenuous.

Well, the prisoners were running out of food during their siege, and several decided to try hunting in the surrounding swamps rather than give an inch. The jail itself is off the mainland, so I'm not certain how they thought they'd escape. Perhaps making a boat? They didn't have any hostages to barter with this time.

Regardless, they tried hunting and well... two made it out with a few chunks ripped out. One we found very little of later. It took a while to drive the alligator away from what was left of the corpse so we could retrieve it.

Did you consider maybe employing alligator guards after that?

Yes, Archie saved my life but I don't believe most healers here can regrow an entire limb.

The jail is situated in Florida, surrounded by swamp. Alligators are fairly common in the area, and the prisoner was foolish enough to try and kill it.
