003 🌙 VIDEO
[Happy New Year, MoM. M is lounging on one of his couches in his apartment, a laptop partially visible in his lap.]
So how many of you have gotten one of these Instagrahm things? My boyfriend gave me grief about not having one of these--or any social media really--to talk to my "fans" with, so I figured one of my New Year's resolutions would be to give one a shot.
[The camera pans down to the laptop, where M's brand new Instagrahm "butwithpunching" (he steadfastly refused going with "officialm") is visible. It's so new that he hasn't posted anything yet. M turns the camera back up to his face.]
I guess the first thing is "add me." Or "follow me." Or whatever. That's what you're supposed to say in this situation, isn't it? Second part is a question--or I suppose a few questions...
Are you one of these people who pimps themselves out to get the most followers? Why? What do you all get out of this?
No need for the "how to" tutorial... I already know exactly how this all works. [The beauty of implants that give him an innate understanding of computers.] It's the why I haven't figured out yet.

[He waves a dismissive hand] Why, huh? Doesn't everyone like to share stuff? Well anyway, I post the Pokémon a lot. They like the attention, too.
Re: video
[A shrug.] And I've always been one to value my privacy.
Though I can see why your pokemon might be popular. Perhaps I should post a picture of Dragprawn.
Re: video
They're super popular! Arcanine's got his own appreciation tag when people run into him 'round town, take selfies with 'im. He goes nuts for it.
--Dragprawn, huh? That's sort of a Pokémon-sounding name... What is it?
no subject
Aren't they supposed to stay in one of those colorful balls of yours? Or is that just a guideline?
[He is admittedly not up on his pokemon.]
They're an imPocreat.
[There's some movement as M drags himself off the couch and crosses the apartment to find Dragprawn. The just-shy-of-a-foot red, purple, and orange shrimp is currently "battling" a stuffed moose on his floor. They click angrily at M as he disrupts the battle of the century to pick them up and position them in front of the camera.]
D.

Well... some of them. People react better to some of them than others. [He frowns at that, a momentary troubled pinch of his brow before it disappears at the sight of the blood-raining shrimp.]
--Ohhh! You got one of those... imPocreates, too!? Hold on a sec.
[Blue, in turn, drags himself up and takes the comm with him, so you get a short tour of his house until he comes upon a tiger-like creature curled up in the corner.] This's Fubuki! I adopted her from someone who left this place.
Hey, you know, Red has one of the same ones you do! You can let 'em play together, sometime.

[M already heard the sob story there from Archie. He always has had a soft spot for the things humanity's rejected.]
Huh. I knew other people kept theirs after, but I hadn't actually seen one since the Swear-In. That one's a Blickablake, isn't it?
[A small smirk as he drapes Dragprawn over his shoulders, the little robot shrimp forgetting all about murdering the stuffed moose for the time being.]
D's more of a fighter than a friend... Though I suppose a new experience wouldn't hurt them.
[He absently pets the little shrimp as he continues through his apartment, sliding aside a decorative barn door to show a gym filled with all kinds of wire and gear.]
If either of you are interested, Cisco was kind enough to replicate the holographic tech from that Swear-In for me and D, your Blickablake and Red's Dragprawn can battle like they originally did here whenever you want.
no subject
[Perfectly normal.] And anyway, both of 'em love people!
[Blue crouches down next to Fubuki, who all but ignores him save a twitch of its tail.] Ah, I guess, yeah? She belonged to someone who was ported out... And then someone in the same house needed to find a home for her. So I offered, since they're pretty similar to Pokémon. [His face shadows with worry momentarily as he recalls that nasty talk about how dangerous imPocreates supposedly were again.] ...Tch, well, I'll take care of her the same, anyway.
[But boy, if he's interested? Blue's face lights up immediately, both at the description of the shrimp as a fighter and the word 'battle'.] Wait, really!? I'm totally in! Anytime! [He gives a cocky grin] And I bet I can beat you and your Dragprawn anytime! Call it my specialty.
no subject
[Bad joke. Moving on...]
If your face just hinted what I think it did... the first batch of imPocreats, the one that D, Fubuki, and your friend's Dragprawn come from, were harmless. They were prototypes for the latter batches, the giant mutant ones from the other Swear-In.
[For once, something good came out of a swear in, rather than something terrible.]
Yes, really. [He doesn't have all of this tech in his gym for nothing.] And you can certainly try, but you will fail. Knowing how things end is my specialty.

[Blue glances up, a little surprised at M's accurate prediction of his thoughts (he's apparently forgotten everything he'd mentioned about it before), but he sulks.] If that's so, then how come people still wanna destroy them? It just seems... [His face twists] Wrong.
[Alive or whatever. Blue didn't like it one bit, that attitude they'd had. The attitude a lot of this world had towards creatures.]
Aw, whatever, we'll see about that! Name a time, guy!
no subject
[Sorry Blue, he's very good at reading body language. It's supposed to be used for anticipating where to punch, but he's trying to branch out.] Because humanity has a nasty habit of destroying anything it doesn't understand. If some of them can be evil, why not all of them? They're just things, so that makes it extra easy for them.
[M is very rarely angry, and even now doesn't outwardly seem it, but his words are... ice cold.
And with a smirk, he thaws.]
My schedule's open. Whenever you want to lose, I'll send a Door your way.
no subject
[His knuckles tighten just the slightest over his knee, but he stands up again to leave Fubuki to her nap.] People aren't like that where I come from, at least. I don't know what's wrong with anyone else, but I'm not about to just suspect them. I promised I'd take care of her after all.
[And with that, he's just giving a blithely confident grin.] We'll see! I'll ask Red when he's free, probably whenever if it's for a battle.
no subject
I'm sure people are, that kind of behavior is universal, they just hide it better because it's more frowned upon wherever you're from.
[Oh it's on.] Keep me posted. My Door is always open.
no subject
...Well, I really don't think so. [He pauses, considering] Even Pokémon that are commonly thought of as scary... No one thinks to hunt them down or anything. Mostly you just leave them to their territory, and they won't bother you.
And anyway, Pokémon are stronger than humans. If people didn't stop anyone trying to harm them first, the ire of the Pokémon would make 'em sorry. Or even a legendary would come to punish them, if they did something bad enough.
[Naive it may sound, but Blue looked perfectly serious.]
no subject
Sounds to me it's more of a case of self-preservation in action.
no subject
If you wanna hear the truth.
...I don't know. I just know something is really different than back home about people here.
