001 [ video ]
—and, got it!
[When the feed cuts in, the first thing anyone might see is—a mop of brown curls. Wow. So exciting. After a moment, a young boy's face comes into view, blue eyes alive with an excited curiosity. Some more adjustments, and the background finally makes itself clear: the kid's in a park somewhere in De Chima, and he happens to be dressed like a Ghostbuster like it's Halloween or something.]
Hey, so, I've got a few questions. A lot of questions, actually. [So many curiosity doors, so little time.] To start with: anyone else here from Hawkins? [He hopes so. He—really doesn't want to be alone.] Man, Mr. Clarke'd have a field day.
[Eat your heart out, Hugh Everett.]
Secondly, has anyone started up an imPort A/V club yet? I'm a little curious about how it would work, especially since people from all kinds of different worlds with varying levels of technology keep getting pulled in. I think it'd be a great opportunity for us to learn about technology from other worlds, and from this one too. I know I'd love a crash course in how to use this—they called it a phone, but it doesn't really look like one. [Phones looked very different where he's from, and they definitely can't do half the stuff this device can.
Something warbles shrilly nearby. Dustin's head turns, and he bends down a little out of frame to talk to something just off-screen:] Shh, Dart. I'll feed you nougat later, just gotta finish this up first. [Turning back to the comm:] Also: Is there a species on your world that, appearance-wise, might be comparable to a pollywog but isn't? Like, pollywogs are cold-blooded and need heat and light, for example, but that particular species actively avoids heat? What kind of food would you feed it? [Beat.] I'm asking for a friend.

[Then again, he hasn't gone into school just yet. He spent most of his day playing around with his brand new superpower, reading up on reptiles, and buying food for his pet.]
It doesn't have to be a school club here. There's a lot of us across four cities, I bet with enough funding you could put something together. [He's thinking it over now, working the logistics out in his head. He'll have to talk to Mike and Will and bounce some ideas off of them, probably.
...sure as hell he's not leading this, though.]
It doesn't even need to be just the imPorts in school—there's probably some adults who'd love to be a part of it.

[It's not something he's too bothered by, since—well, it's pretty much the same way back at home, just minus Dart. He does feel a vague sense of disappointment, maybe, but it's not going to get him down.]
—you're from 2052?! [Holy shit!!!!!!] What's it like?

[Is—Is he talking to a real-life alien right now? Is that what's happening? AAAAAAAAA]
The Brisingr Cluster? Where's that? And what's it like there?

[This is blowing his mind, that much is clear by his wide eyes and the higher pitch his voice reaches, shocked and stunned and so awed.]
That's awesome—you said you had human friends, right? How many humans are there? How many non-humans are there, are there any aliens that aren't humanoid? [He's so excited, man, this is just the best thing to have ever happened to him. Ever.]

Most of my friends are human! [She taps her chin thoughtfully.] I know lots of people from other races though, too... my group was based on Ragna, which had a lot of fish people. Most of us are all humanoid, 'cause the Protoculture made all of us in their image or somethin' like that. Umm... I guess it's pretty diverse, though! It's not weird to see someone else that's waaaay different from you.
