[this feed starts up in the early evening, and we're here sitting with Lucina at a desk, the device held at arm's length. just a second after recording starts, her eyes light up, and she lets out a small, wonder-filled "oh!" at seeing herself in the corner of the recording. her delighted smile wanes a little as she glances away, peering at a booklet just slightly in view.
reciting aloud:] ...When the red...R-E-C and circle are visible, device is in record mode. Primary...F-O-V? [squint.] Is...this...and menu can be accessed...there. Mm. [she purses her lips into a thoughtful line, skimming the rest in silence. her brow furrows while she rereads.
then, clarity.] Oh! So...so I don't have to actually...summon anyone to respond in this case. It's simply like calling out in the open? [she shoots the screen a curious glance, hesitating, as if expecting a reply.
a beat, then she shifts, leaving the booklet behind so she can hold the communicator with both hands.]
Alright, then! I suppose then this will simply be a hello for whoever could possibly be listening right now. So... [ha, a little shrug and a head tilt:] Hello!

Lady Lucina, hello again! Are you having much luck figuring out this device?
good. GOOD.
Thor! I'm very glad to see you again, I certainly hoped I would. Ah--yes! [she lifts up the little booklet and gives it a wave in front of the camera.] I decided to stop floundering and actually see to all those papers I was given at the start. It's tricky, but actually not as inscrutable as I'd first thought it.
I trust you've been well? You seem so from here, but...it is a small picture, after all.
no subject
I'm well, yes. I had the fortune of meeting some folks from similar worlds as my own, some of which could... theoretically be called friends. [Hesitance just momentary because does he wanna call Tony that? Eh.] Have you been well?

I'm Laurie. I could possibly be listening.
no subject
It's a pleasure, Laurie. I hope you'll excuse me for being so fascinated with this whole process... I've never used anything like this before.
no subject
They really should have, like, a class ready to roll for this sort of thing. At least they gave your an instruction manual.

[he scratches his cheek.]
You picked it up fast, though... does this not exist in your world?
no subject
she shakes her head, ending on a slight tilt.] Not that I know of. But maybe some of the mages knew tricks to communicate like this? I never studied spellcraft growing up myself, so I couldn't say for sure. Most messages from afar came by envoys, be they on foot or one of the pegasus knights. Nothing quite so instantaneous as this...

Hey there. New to communicators, I take it?
no subject
I'm afraid so. But I'm determined to master it as fast as I can--it seems invaluable. Being able to speak to anyone, anywhere, instantly is...rather difficult, if not impossible, where I'm from. I'll happily take it.
