[He holds the device up to his right ear, showing his shiny new earring. It's a simple golden hoop earring. The screen pulls back to show Finn's face again.]

Maybe I'll get another one a little higher up on my ear. I'm also thinking about getting a cat at some point.

[Lucien honestly hasn't a clue how to do a video in response, nor does he want to. Not when he's still finding his feet. A written note is easier on his nerves, but it's hard to produce. He's watched others use these little devices, but it's still a slow, painful process to peck out a message.]

Forgive my forwardness, but you're the first dunmer I've seen here. Are there any others? I've seen no one else who'd even know where Morrowind is.

[Oh by the Unholy Matron and all her children in the Void, it attached his name to the message. Why would it do something so invasive?!]

[When Finn sees the name attached to the text response, the biscuit he's nibbling on drops out of his mouth.

Is it really him? If it is, does he know Finn? Better play it cool for now. He hasn't quite figured out how to make messages private.]

I'm afraid I'm the only Dunmer here. But it's good to hear from another from my world.

[No sense in running off now, it would be more suspicious to just abandon the conversation. Maybe he can get more information from this one.]

Well, I've met other elves but they aren't from our world. It's kind of weird, actually.

Ah. [It feels unbearably odd to sit and watch a device send letters back and forth, but perhaps it's for the best. He'd rather gather information at a distance for now.]

And where are you from? Morrowind itself, or elsewhere?

[Lucien isn't giving any hints that he knows Finn. Even if he's trying to be sneaky, Finn would think he would give some indication that he knows his Listener.

He's assuming Lucien's not talking about the main island, obviously.]

I was born and raised in Morrowind, but I actually spent the past year in Skyrim.

[If nothing else, the dunmer probably thinks he's breton, and wouldn't recognize him on the street. His real name is good for that, at least.]

I am! I'm a Dark Elf, actually, also known as a Dunmer.

Is there much of a difference, then, between Dunmers and normal elves?

In my world, there's different races of elves, and there's really no 'baseline'. There's dark elves, high elves, wood elves, orcs are technically a race of elf, and there are some elven races who aren't really around any more.

Yeah, be careful with those, they hurt like hell if they get ripped out!

[ He's got several hoops in both of his long, pointy ears, but he points to one ear that has a jagged scar where that clearly happened to him. ]

Why a cat?

Lucky for me I'm not really an up-close-and-personal combatant.

[He's still going to be careful with it, though. He's sure Lucien's going to tell him the same thing when he sees the earring.]

I guess, but they're not really my thing. I've got a snake, though, which I recommend.

Snakes can be cute, sure, but right now I'd prefer a pet that's a bit more fuzzy.
