The year is 2018 and the Red Scare is alive and kicking. Worlds collide as we're brought here under mysterious circumstances, given gifts we couldn't dream to prepare for. Trapped without hope for escape we ask ourselves - will we ever see our homes again? Our loved ones? Will we embrace our new lives and is it a question of when - not if - that these powers turn on us? So many questions, and yet the biggest mystery is something else entirely.

Best burger joint. Give me your suggestions. Bonus points for cheap menus.

Fair- from what I've heard this whole place is a vacuum.
You're brought in and taken out at the same time, no changes, and with no memories of what happens here.

And are you always this articulate, or do the circumstances just lend themselves towards the dramatic?

I don't know about always, but I was working on a novel back home. Seeing as I can't exactly pick up where I left off, I figured this was the second best thing.

What was your novel about?
And you could always start in on a new one.
You've got nothing but time here.

I'll probably do that. There's always something to write about.

I was writing about a murder that happened this summer. What happened, how it affected the town, stuff like that.

[athnvas]

But that's really cool of you. Not the topic, but looking into how it affected the town.
Are you interested in investigative journalism as a whole?

[burger_king]

I guess you could say I've fallen into it lately - I've been doing some work for the school paper, stuff like that.

I'm sure there are plenty of papers around here you could work for, too.
It'd be a good way to get an idea of what this place even is.


I'm not much of a writer? More of a reader.

That's not a bad idea. Beats working as a waiter.

What kind of stuff do you like to read?

Is that what they signed you up to do?

Nonfiction, usually.
Histories, mythologies, architecture, biographies, etc.

True crime?

I can't say I've read a lot of it, but I'm not one to turn down a good book in any form.
Why? Are you going to let me read yours?

Maybe, once I have something. True crime is my anti drug, there's a lot of good stuff out there.

Not everyone agrees with me, I've always thought the real world was weird enough to not necessarily need fiction.

Do you have any recommendations? No idea if they're here, but I work in the library so I could check them out.

Agreed. Doubly so here.

Beware of the Zodiac is pretty good, I read that not too long ago. I could get you a more comprehensive list, but I'd need some time to remember the titles.

No telling if this place has other ideas but if I go investigating into strange rumors I'll give you a warning.
