The year is 2018 and the Red Scare is alive and kicking. Worlds collide as we're brought here under mysterious circumstances, given gifts we couldn't dream to prepare for. Trapped without hope for escape we ask ourselves - will we ever see our homes again? Our loved ones? Will we embrace our new lives and is it a question of when - not if - that these powers turn on us? So many questions, and yet the biggest mystery is something else entirely.

Best burger joint. Give me your suggestions. Bonus points for cheap menus.

Why do you say that?

[perfectible]

I could barely handle everything that was going on. I was so scared of the people I loved getting hurt that I hurt them.

[burger_king]

Betty... that was an extreme situation. No one could've handled it better than you did. I sure wouldn't have. [ More thumb rubbing. ] That you can say this? Be honest about your feelings? That's what makes you strong.

[perfectible]

[ It's hard to hear it, it's hard to accept that sort of compliment when she isn't sure she believes it. But she nods, exhaling a soft breath. Her hand squeezes his.] You're strong too, Jug.

[ He squeezes it back, makes a noise - not to dismiss what she's saying, he knows that he can handle a lot of crap, but there's so much more to it. ] Maybe.

I've been making a lot of bad decisions lately.

[perfectible]

[ She looks at him with a gentle sigh and a sad smile.] How did our lives get to this? We're not even out of high school.

[burger_king]

Who knows? [ He sighs. ] Maybe it's the town. Taking to people here, I've started to realise just how much has happened in Riverdale in just a few months.

[perfectible]

It's been crazy. [ A part of her feels overwhelmed by it all but at the same time, she wonders if they would have ever gotten together without all those bad things.

She leans in to lay her head on his shoulder. ] And I wouldn't have made it without you by my side.

[burger_king]

[ He likes to think they would've. Maybe it would've taken longer, been different but it's nice to think that at least this was meant to be. ]

Same here... I'm really glad we're together here. This is a lot too.

[perfectible]

[ She wants to believe that too, that someday they would have found one another. She can't regret how it happened, however. And she nods at his words, completely agreeing. She can't be happier than she is right now, knowing he's here with her now. That he's forgiven her for what she had to do. ]

Don't worry, I'll show you the ropes. And this place... it's incredible.

I'm counting on it. [ He smiles at her, so full of love and trust. They'll be okay here, right? Even with nanites and communist fear?]

[ She moves to press a kiss to his lips, gently.] So this is one of the many sitting rooms.

Sitting rooms, multiple? [ He quirks a brow - you sure you want the guy from the trailer park in here? ] It's like Cheryl's house, without the gothic horror vibes.

[ She laughs at that.] It's more like an endless rustic home from an interior design magazine.

Still think you seriously undersold this place. [ It's gorgeous and foreign. ]

How do you think I could even begin to explain this? [ She waves her hands at the room.]

You're the star journalist at the Blue and Gold, Cooper. I expected something more than a farm. [ He teases, honestly. ]

[perfectible]

It's one of those seeing is believing situations, don't you think? [ She moves to stand, tugging on his hand to get him up.]

[burger_king]

[ And up he goes, keeping the hold on her hand. ] I suppose the surprise makes up for it.

[perfectible]

You have no idea how surprising this place can be... [ She pauses.] I wish I could show you Henrietta but she's a little skittish. She's... basically a giant bird monster...

[burger_king]

....Seriously? [ He hasn't seen anything too weird so far. ]

That's probably the weirdest thing here.

[burger_king]

And you've been hanging out with her?

[perfectible]

No, [ she shakes her head pretty hard.] She's skittish. I just leave her things, food and gifts. Shiny things. Things she can add to her nest.

[burger_king]

Huh. Well, if that's as weird as it gets... [ Still pretty weird. ] Can I come with you sometime?
