So. We're all held here against our will and there's no way home. That's fine, I guess worse things have happened.

[Getaway speaks casually in a cool, smooth as silk, tone as if the whole thing with Riptide hadn't happened. As far as he's concerned, that was just a minor inconvenience that was dealt with in the most direct and logical way possible. But he's not here to talk about Riptide.]

I'm not usually the distractions kind of person. Hate them, in fact, but since I don't have a choice, I might as well enjoy myself, right? See, I'm new to being human, and what better way to learn to be human than to test out Heropa's night life?

The name's Getaway, and I would be absolutely delighted if someone told me where the best clubs and hangouts are in this big city of ours.

[For this Getaway sees his opportunity. A moment to make things a bit easier for himself. Maybe somewhere deep down the last remnants of a conscience tells him not to do it, but he goes forth anyway, his words flowing easily from his lips as his face takes on expression of horror.]

I'd never do that to you Tailgate! I thought I was doing the right thing, and I'm so sorry that put you in danger.

But you did it didn't you? That sort of means you completed the ritual doesn't it?

That would make us Conjunx now. Exciting.

[His response just makes everything so much more confusing. Tailgate had believed that Getaway meant for him to be caught. Now, now he wasn't so sure and he hated that feeling.]

I tried to, but Megatron came online before I could and...yeah.

[He looks down again because he'd done it with Cyclonus but he hadn't gotten to talk about it. But hadn't he technically done most of it with someone that knew what they were doing?
Has he actually just completely misjudged everything?]

Well an act of devotion is an act of devotion. I like to consider the ritual complete.

[That delicious insecurity that Tailgate radiated in droves was still present, and all he had to do was say the right thing and maybe he can completely avoid any unnecessary complications.]

I think there's been a massive misunderstanding, and certain people are filling your head with even more misunderstandings.

But I think we can make this right right now. How's that sound?

['Complete' it made his heart quicken but not in excitement. It was a little hard to swallow. He wanted to ask about Riptide, the mutiny and the DJD, but Getaway wasn't from that time period so how could he answer any questions.]

Do you mean Riptide? I don't think that's something he would do. He said what you did was probably a misunderstanding too. [So many of those popping up now but he hasn't quite clicked yet. He can't tell he's lying because he sounds so genuine about it.]

I don't [he let's out a big sigh.] I don't know.

[Getaway is not about to give up just yet. Instead he pushes forward, his voice gentle and kind.]

Don't you want to be like Chromedome and Rewind? I've seen how you look at them.

We can be like that if you'd only let us.

[He does want that but he's also still incredibly hung up on Cyclonus and keeps thinking about him. Not that he'd say that out loud. There's a long pause where he's worrying at his bottom lip.]

Can I think about it? It's just, it's all really sudden and my head has been all over the place and I didn't think you'd show up and to tell you the truth I'm kind of freaking out a little. It's not you, it's totally me.

I mean there's an election coming up and there's just so much going on.

Of course, take whatever time you need.

[He says, though he doesn't intend to let Tailgate forget about him for too long. Maybe a few romantic gestures here and there will help later on. He'll need to make a list.]

I'm willing to take that subject change. What's this election and why's it important?

[That was a relief that he hadn't expected.]

Oh I didn't mean it as a subject change at all! But um...there's an ambassador position that's opened up in Nonah, one of the Porter cities and I kind of...started campaigning for it.

[Getaway lets out a bark of laughter that comes out meaner than he meant it to and he's quick to cover it up with a cough.]

Tailgate the Ambassador eh? Sounds like a nice fancy title.

I like it, I think you'll do really well.

If you need any help you know who to talk to. I have some leadership experience myself.

[There's a slight frown of worry with a small mix of confusion before it's replaced with a lopsided insecure smile.]

You think so?

I don't really know what I'm doing. I made a post on the network about my candidacy, I think I won someone over with it so that was nice.

Oh that's not that surprising. Your cluelessness and naivety are absolutely adorable, so I can see why people might find that amusing.

I mean, what's the point in a leader if you can't laugh at them just a little bit?

But I believe that you have what it takes, no matter what anyone else might say. Sometimes you just gotta learn on the fly, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't want people to find me amusing though or to laugh at me. I did it because there's no voice for non-humans and...I thought it would be a good idea.

[He's quiet for a moment.]

Do you think people will think I'm joking about it?

No, no of course not!

[He says with the air of wanting to spare Tailgate's feelings.]

And if they do, then it's your job to prove them wrong, right? It's a good-enough cause.

Tell me about your campaign.

Y-Yeah? Yeah.

Oh okay. Well I'm wanting better resources for non-humans, like housing. That's a big focus. And uh, to offer more support and funding to groups.

And it's open to humans too, because it would be really dumb to not include them, but a lot of what I want to do is for those of us that are given human forms.

It would be nice to have a place we can hang out in our normal forms. I feel like if we do anything as rough as we're used to, we'll end up destroying a building.

[He's referring to recreational activities such as grenade tag that Lost Lighters like to take part in.]

But hey, I've got places to be so let's talk later, yeah?
