( one of the soldiers clears his throat and a southern ma'am can be heard behind her. she turns her head, like she'd forgotten they were there and then suddenly remembered. she jabs a thumb over her shoulder. )

Oh, right. That's Jethro and his friend there is Tull. Those aren't their real names, but that's what I'm calling them. They're here to pay off their debt to Ares, so until they meet some horrible demise or I say otherwise, they work for me. They won't listen to anyone else, so don't even try.

( she salutes at the camera and the soldiers awkwardly follow suit. )

[ had clarisse showed up like, two days prior, annabeth might have had a different reaction. the familiar face, the image, the whole everything that is the daughter of ares busting down the doors to whatever this place is supposed to be. as it stands, she's in a much better place to see it, even if the undead soldiers don't bother her.

( it's a good thing this world is similar enough to their own that clarisse doesn't even bother asking why there are so many fucking demigods in one place. it seems kind of obvious, when she thinks about it. they were all heroes already, just without the super part. so it's really not surprising how many she's already encountered, or that annabeth is already here. besides, it's nice to see a familiar face of someone she actually likes. )

Dad's Ares, god of war. He practically invented the military, so yeah. You could say that. ( she isn't officially military personnel, but she could be if she wanted. she's got the highest ranking referral in the world. as for the zombies ... ) These guys are just like regular soldiers, they've just been dead for a few hundred years. Probably never even made it to Hades, given their debt to Ares.
