[The video feed turns on to show a crumpled party invitation, slightly out of focus but no less a magnificent work of graphic design.]

What up groundhogs, it's us, ya bois. [Offscreen, Noah provides cheery voiceover while the camera works to focus on the flyer.] Come to our party. It'll basically be happening until all this explosion shit gets sorted out.

[Somewhere behind Noah, there's a thump, and then the unmistakable laughter of Matthew Lynch.]

Wait, what? Oh-- [Suddenly his voice sounds a lot closer.] Right, right, everybody should come! It'll be fun! There's pizza and-- and all kinds of stuff!

[The camera finally pans off of the flyer, intending to zoom on on Matthew, but instead Noah drops the device. It tumbles to the floor at a pair of boat-shoed feet. For those that haven't met Gansey yet, he has an old-money-Virginia accent that's heard from above the camera.]

No need to bring anything except yourselves.

[Gansey picks up the camera and it focuses on him as he leans against a counter next to Ronan.]

And anyone else that's interested in coming of course.

[Ronan, who is already getting started and drinking whiskey straight from the bottle, adds:]

The only rule is don't be a fucking downer.

[Now, commence to THE PARTY.]

Well it sort of started last night, but now we're inviting everyone. It's a thing.

Yeah. And like, I have spooky ghost powers and Matthew can make cotton candy.

[ She opens her mouth to say something but then closes it, shaking her head.] Nevermind. [ She thought higher of them, especially of Ronan and Gansey but they are just, in the end, teenage boys. If anything, they're safer at the Meadows than out there in the world as it falls into chaos each day.]

[ Matthew as usual only seems to catch part of the conversation. ]

[ Of course it's her house, but he doesn't know if she might have somewhere else to be. ]
