10. A girl and her horse [Video]

[continuousgroaning]

[There's some shuffling around when the feed clicks on; Tina sets her device upright on a crate before moving back and sitting cross-legged on the ground, so that most of her is visible. She's sitting in a field, with scattered hay and dry grass all around, holding a few horse cookies in one hand. She turns, offering them to something off-camera.]

Come on, Jake... don't be shy. I want everyone to meet you.

[Slowly, a small pony- with a piebald coat, to fit in with the Pi Day theme of the swearin she won him from- pokes his head into view, sniffing the cookies before ignoring them to affectionately lip Tina's hair instead. Tina giggles and leans against him. In response, the horse shakes his head a bit, knocking her glasses askew, suddenly interested in the treats. Tina does not care. She simply readjusts her glasses and watches him cronch on the cookies instead, an expression of pure, unadulterated joy on her face. A big thing, for someone who rarely makes huge displays of emotion.]

The past few months have been hard for me, but sometimes... sometimes life can be so good.

Is that horse small or are you larger than normal?

Nah, he's just small. Not big enough for me to ride, but that's not a problem to me.

Yeah, it really is. I mean, they can be useful, but they're still weird.

I've wanted a horse as long as I can remember. I never thought I would actually get one, though.

I won him at the last swear-in. See, it was Pie Day... I'm not sure exactly why... and his coloring is piebald. So it fit in with the theme.

Really well. He's not big enough for me to ride, but he's really sweet-tempered.

You know, I bet the feeling is pretty much like this. Except I'm probably not going to end up with a team of 6 horses...

Not much- he's a miniature pony. Sometimes people use miniature horses as service animals, or show them. Like Contests, I guess.

Oh yeah? I didn't know they were used for service animals... [Blue looks thoughtful] I train dogs for therapy and service animals, maybe I should look into that....

I would love to have that many myself, but that'd be a lot of money. And I wouldn't be able to give them all equal love and attention without help...

It's pretty neat! I looked some information up on the internet, and they work like guide dogs. But horses also need to live outdoors- it's the law- so it's not ideal for everyone. And bigger horses are used for therapy, too. Being around horses just makes people feel good.

Oh he's lovely. I was under the impression that horses and ponies were less common on this world, but perhaps that's because of the, uh, cars.
