Hi Network.
I'm looking for some advice on names.

The name I use, the only one I've ever been given, belongs to someone else. I used to try to be that person, but now I'm trying to be my own person instead.
And so, I've been thinking about using a different name. The only problem is, I'm not sure how to come up with a new one.

Do you have any advice on how to name yourself?

Kinda hard to explain. But if it were me, I'd pick something close to the original. Easier to get used to people callin' me by it, and I like the one I got already.

But you wanna be someone else, right? That bein' the case, how about picking a name that reflects that?

I don't mind the name I have now. It just feels a little strange to use this name when I'm trying to be someone different.

What sort of name reflects being someone new?

Don't worry about it. Names're pretty important, or at least they are where I'm from.

A lot of names have an extra meaning or two behind 'em. You could pick one that had to do with startin' over or spring or something.

Or maybe one that says something about who ya are now. Whattaya think, any of those sound interesting?

I like the idea of choosing one based on meaning.
Especially one that has to do with spring.
Spring is when my sort of "birthday" is.

Pick a name that has meaning for you. Or you could even pick a meaning first and then look for names with that meaning. You're trying to be your own person so maybe look for names that mean independent or free.

None of us choose our birth names. If you are choosing a name to demonstrate rejection of the past, find one that signifies the new direction you have chosen.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using the name you're used to, just because someone else also went by it! If you don't like it that's one thing, but don't feel like you have to use another name in order to be your own person.

Well, I don't know much about normal names, but... when I was choosing my superhero moniker, I went with something important to me. Every name has a meaning, Maybe try looking through different names, and looking for one that exemplifies something important to you?

Maybe Freeman as a last name? Or Newman, as I'm trying to be someone new.

Maybe, if the name didn't come with a set of behaviors and protocols, I wouldn't want to give it up. But it's more than just a name. It's a whole separate person who I don't want to be anymore.
