[ Ash has been thinking a lot lately. Sometimes, it feels like all he does is think. But between his conversations with D33 and Chauncy, he feels like maybe he could use more input. And as this request is very personal, he posts under his own username rather than using the anonymous function. ]

Hi Network.
I'm looking for some advice on names.

The name I use, the only one I've ever been given, belongs to someone else. I used to try to be that person, but now I'm trying to be my own person instead.
And so, I've been thinking about using a different name. The only problem is, I'm not sure how to come up with a new one.

Do you have any advice on how to name yourself?

There are lots of name generators online and also baby name books to try. Or, I can look up the meanings behind names and choose one that fits that way.

[D33 takes a moment to look at the website and ends up distracting himself by failing to restrain from looking up "Dylan" immediately. Not that he sees any particular significance in his given name - no, never, why would you even? No.

I think I've decided to go with something a little more straightforward, in terms of meaning.

Green Newman.

[Another color name? He wonders vaguely if this man is friends with any of the Pokémon trainers.]

In the way that you feel that you are a "new man", I can assume.

Why Green?

Someone suggested names to do with Spring, as it's a time of rebirth and new growth. Green is a very Spring-like colour.

Also, green has another, slang meaning of being new to something. When you're green at something, you're just starting out.
