I'm guessing the latter, but I've got another question.

If one of your powers is your alien physiology, does the power suppressor change your entire biological make-up, or just make your acid blood not acid?

[not speaking from experience here, no never, says the man whose previous power set included toxic blue blood for which he frequently used a suppressor]
and ymmv:
but i'd say it's going to put you at baseline human physiology
so no bad blood
and blood extracted during this time will probably remain neutralized
even after power is turned back on
but again, ymmv

now if you're normally not human shaped either,
you're going to be stuck human shaped while suppressed,
in addition to temporarily nullifying any other non-human attributes you have
...making you a generic human

Porter seems to think default = non-powered = human


now as to your bio makup, like, generically?
well, if you want to get that tested while under power suppression,
i can probably hook you up with some interested scientific parties

I am kind of curious to test that, actually. I don't have a power neutralizer, though. Might be weird getting turned human. I don't technically have a human form here.

He's kind of my go-to guy on non-human imPort stuff.

But yeah. I have a skin suit that disguises me as human, which is something I had back in my universe, but my body doesn't actually change.

i wanted to know what kind of things they suppress. is it science or magic based? are they a power of some kind themselves?

I've seen them mostly science based,
but I wont rule out the likelihood that there are magic users who could make trinkets that limit powers too.

To my understanding,
they operate as a complete power down.

Any and all powers you have listed in your file from arrival will be shut down;
that includes non-human forms even if that is your normal state of being back home.
Like I told one other guy:

If you have a healing power that's keeping you alive?

no. it's not a healing thing. i want to suppress a curse. i guess that's what it is. i don't know if it's magic based though. i'm guessing it has to be. but it keeps me from doing something i should be able to do.

If the item has a function, doesn't it grant abilities either way? Directly or indirectly? Glasses offer the ability to see, a pace maker offers the ability to keep a heartbeat, a coffee machine offers the ability to have coffee.

Even a paperweight offers the hands-free ability to keep papers where you put them.

Anonymous, I literally got here less than two weeks ago, I don't even know where the best coffee shop in my area is, let alone how to get my hands on potentially dangerous equipment.

I also used to know all the coffee shops to go to, and I'm going to venture a guess that THAT hasn't changed too dramatically, so hang on a sec-- [And here, because of reasons and because he fails at being really anon, are a list of his favorite shops in the major imPort cities; the list heavily favors Heropa and De Chima]

But this place, you'll find,
tends to be kind of full of engineers,
so I'm sure if you go sniffing around,
you'll find some black market dealer who carries some.
