He’d intended to do some research—he wasn’t sure how, but he did plan to do it. But between the clones, the swear-in, and generally trying to figure out this strange world, it’d fallen to the wayside.

Now, he’s really wishing he had made it a priority.]

Whats psychometry?

It means you can touch people or things and learn things about them.

Psychometry, akin to clairvoyance, is the ability to discern information about the history of an object through touch.

"psycho-" comes from the Ancient Greek word ψυχή (psukhḗ, “soul”), and pertains to things to do with the mind or soul.

"-metry" relates to measurement.

It doesn't have to do with death, on its own, or going crazy, but you might encounter the former. You might feel the latter, sometimes.

The short of it is, some objects have powerful histories, and psychometry is the ability to "read" that history.

If that's your power, and it's touch-based, then I recommend gloves. It'll save you a lot of heartache.

[It’s a relief when someone actually replies with concrete advice that he can follow. There’ll be a delay before Boba responds back as he finds his gloves. He’s pretty sure this communicator doesn’t have a “powerful history” so he’ll leave them off for now—but he’ll definitely be wearing them if he tries to pick up his father’s helmet again.]

That's right. I've had a power like that ever since I was a child.

It can be useful at times, especially with strangers, and it can give you answers at times when people can't. But it's not the kind of thing, I think, that anyone wants to experience all the time.

For me, I experience those other people's emotions, as if they were my own. Whatever they felt then, I feel "now," as if whatever happened or whatever caused them is happening to me. Is it like that for you?

No. Maybe a little bit.

I saw and heard things too. Like I was actually there.

Is there any way to turn it off? Or do I just have to wear gloves from now on?

It's like any other sense. Can you turn off your hearing whenever you want? Your sense of smell, your sense of sight? Not without plugging up it ripping out the organ that does it, usually.

For most people with powers like that, it's always "on."
