As for Karen, she's seated on her bed in her shared housing complex. Next to her bedside, on the small dresser, is a tall iced cappuccino that's already a quarter finished. Most of her hair is tied up and she's dressed in a camisole and three quarter pants, but interesting there's a light sweater laying near the edge of the bed.

It's much too warm for long sleeves. ]

Probably a bit weird to ask, but how many of you are going to the jobs they set up for us? I can't exactly complain about doing work I know how to do and being able to earn money ASAP, but it still feels a bit like a demotion. I liked the view from my office window.

[ She sighs and scratches above the digital tattoo on her wrist. ]

Ugh... and I don't suppose someone's found a way to get rid of this?

Couldn't you just ask them to relocate you to a job more suited to your liking?

[ Rather fortunate that she's been blessed with a good job, Rin won't boast out loud about it. ]

It doesn't seem that rude of a request to make.

I'm not registered, so I'll have to look on my own. I'm fine at the moment where I am, though.

Did you have reason to suspect doing so wouldn't be a benefit?

[ She pulls her legs closer, adjusting her position on the bed. ]

Nope and I've got no plans to.

Who knows what they'll ask from us if we're registered. I'm all for helping people, but not without any say in it. The tattoos, being told where we can and can't go? That doesn't spell anything good.

It might not, but there's reasons for all of this, isn't there?

Well, it reminds me a bit of what happened back in the City with one of those other worldly trips, but I rather not think about that being the same situation. It's different, isn't it?

[boobwindow]

That's what I want to keep thinking, but...

[ Her gaze darkens considerably a moment. ]

It's been over a week. What's the longest those trips have been?

[gandere]

Usually a week. [ Which means this very well may not be a "trip". ]

We're going to have to star treating this as if it's been a serious replacement instead of deluding ourselves into believing we can return to the City in a few days time.

[boobwindow]

I'm not deluding myself.

[ She takes a deep breath and exhales slowly, leaning her head against a hand. ]

I don't know what to make of a lot of this yet. Any of it, really.

[gandere]

[ Right, she ought to work on being sociable. ] Sorry, it's been difficult on a lot of us.

You don't have an opinion yet though?

[boobwindow]

... I know.

[ She sighs again. ]

I don't know if this is really meant to be long term or we're packing up our bags again in another month or six.

[gandere]

Are you the type who can settle down easily?

[ Rin's only known one place for most of her life so she's definitely not. Advertising that publicly won't happen so instead she treats it as if she's detached from the conversation herself. ]

If you are, then why fret about it? Seems a waste of mental energy otherwise.

Not by my own choice.

[ Crises and retcons... haha. ]

Because what if this world ends up the same way the City did?

Then we'll probably get thrown into some other part of the United States. Let's see, first it was up north, now we're down south. Think we'll get cowboys next?

[ This is how she handles things: with lots and lots of useless sarcasm. ]
