So it occurs to me that there are different forces at work here, among even the imPort population. I confess to have no real understanding of these political intricacies, but feel as though it's important to remain aware of the influences permeating our own subculture of sorts. So far RISE and the Justice League have been spoken of in passing, but what are these organizations and are there any others? An overview would be appreciated.
I feel I should also express my thanks to those that met with myself and my colleague last month before the swear-in, as well as to those that assisted us during the event itself. We are most grateful. We've decided to take employment at StarkTech for the time being, where we'll be heading up a new biotechnological division.
[A little later, an additional notation pops up]
Never will I understand the desire to erect a wall in the face of opposition.

StarkTech's a good company — though the CEO's ego is bigger than the building, so get ready for that.

[Still no name, but Hermann cringes over 'shield man']
Please excuse my indecorous colleague. He suffers from an acute lack of social grace.
video;
video;
[ Shield Man is a new one, which is surprising now that he thinks on it. ]
video;
Probably shoulda gone with that instead; a hell of a lot more straightforward than Captain America.
[ Wouldn't sell bonds as fast, though. ]
If you want something a little shorter, Steve's good, too. How you holdin' up after that mess at the swear-in, bud?
video;
Captain America, huh? That's kind of patriotic and cool with a touch of pretentious. No offense, nice name, just kind of odd. Who thought that one up? Do you have a costume to go with, or just the shield?
[Oops. Running his mouth again.]
Anyway, you can call me Newt. I'm doing okay. Super grateful you came along, man. You saved both of our asses in there. Thank you.
[Newt looks a little nervous, but not like Hermann's nervousness, just awkward, unsure. Then he decides and puts on a look of confidence. A fumble, then he switches it to private.]
[Private]
Hey. So,uh. I suck at thanks, but, you know, if you ever need something I can help with? Let me know, dude. I owe you.
video; private
Thank the war effort of World War II for that. It fit in a little better in 1940.
[ Just like him, but that's old hat, isn't it? His eyebrows raise curiously as the feed goes private — before his playful smile turns to something softer. ]
I'll keep that in mind, Newt — but you don't owe me anything, either of you. I'm just glad I got to you in time.
You guys were both alright? After I left, I mean?
[ He still feels lousy that he didn't stay — but he had to get in and help as many people as he could before he succumbed to his own condition. ]
video; private
And yeah, we--we were fine. Our buddy Qubit gave us a portal to outside the area and we hunkered down in a hotel for the night. Super fine. [Aside from aftereffects and a handful of big arguments, yeah. Totally fine. But the arguments were a long time coming and no one could have spared them from that, and at least those helped them confirm their Best Friend status.]
[Steve, why are you a saint and an angel AND a lifesaver? How can you be so good, Dorito-Man. Newt opens his mouth, closes it, then tries again.]
I'm glad you got to us too. Thank you.
video; private
[ He's still a fish out of water most days, but it's better than it used to be. Not so obvious anymore. ]
Good. I'm sorry I couldn't stay with you guys.
[ And he looks legitimately, genuinely unhappy that he couldn't — but super soldier or not, he's just one man. Can't be everywhere. ]
Like I told your friend, if the two of you need my help with anything, you just drop me a line. This place can go nuts in the drop of a hat.
video;
He's not, his life is awful. Trying not to visibly wilt. Please don't have seen that conversation- it's not like that, really]So long as our work is sufficiently funded and credited, I can forgive any eccentricities. I daresay Newton and I bring plenty of our own on that count. [Alright so maybe Newton could be headed for interpersonal disaster if their egos clash too badly]
video;
Well, if he gets too mouthy on you, let me know.
[ Him and Tony knock heads so much it's practically an Olympic sport for them. Steve's mouth quirks at the side. ]
Steve Rogers. I'm glad you and your partner are doin' all right.
video;
D-doctor Hermann Gottlieb. My colleague is Doctor Newton Geiszler. We wouldn't have made it out of there if not for your timely intervention, Mr. Rogers. [And dammit Newton, he can't follow that up with much now that it could be suggestive]
You're well acquainted with Mr. Stark?
video;
[ Hey, what kind of superhero would he be if he couldn't even rescue people from their own potential embarrassment? ]
It's a little complicated, but yeah — we know different versions of each other in our own worlds. We get on about the same, though.
[ Meaning they get on like cats and dogs, but he'll just leave that bit out. ]
video;
Well I appreciate the offer, though Mr. Stark has been rather accommodating thus far.
video;
[ The way he says it, it's clear he mostly just accepts the concept rather than fully grasping it — but for him, that's the best he can get with something like theoretical physics. ]
He's got a keen eye for good business; if he's picked you two up, you must really know your stuff, especially if he's got you heading up your own division aleady.
video;
He wonders if there's an alternate version of himself where things had gone differently out there somewhere, but as ever when it comes to these things, it's a discomfiting consideration.]
But yes, I'd rather like to think so. [And that's about as modest as he gets as far as 'knowing his stuff' goes. Going to unintentionally mirror Newton's offer here] If there's ever anything we could assist you with, I'll make every effort to ensure we're able to do so.
video;
If something pops up, I'll let you know — but I'll let you know now, you don't owe me anything for what happened. Honestly.
video;
which he absolutely refuses to do.
sorry if he looks vaguely irritated for no clear reason, he's just silently projecting his aggravation to Newton through their weird psychic link]
No matter. It was a gesture of goodwill on your part, and I'd like to be able to offer the same- if under less distressing circumstances, if at all possible
video;
private to hermann

Moderate horror, because reconciling the two as separate people is now complicated]
Good God Newton, that is ancient. Why on Earth!
private
Because!
Oh, come on, dude. Hermann and Steve, sitting in a tree~ I never got to do this as a kid. You have to let me now. It's part of the Best Friend Agreement.
Turnabout is fair play, okay. You can do it when I'm a smitten kitten, too. But for now, that poor sod is you and you'll have to endure it, MY NEW ROOMIE.

It won't hurt you to have a crush, ok. Nice to know we both still, I don't know, notice people after all those years staring at Kaiju guts and numbers and each other. People! People are out here, Hermann! And some of them are damn fine specimens! It's okay to look and to like what you see!
private
Is that why you're acting like a kicked puppy with Ms. Dearing?
