[It's Christmas, sure, but Maya's not really one to celebrate it.

Neither's Edgeworth. Bad things have always happened in December. Bad memories. Bad fights.

That's probably why today was just really not the day for them to be in the same room. After Maya had dared to suggest using some of Mia Fey's tactics for his investigation, Edgeworth had snapped and insulted the elder Fey, unaware of her demise.

Now, Maya sits under a streetlight in Heropa on a curb, surrounded by the quiet of the dark. It's hard to see her face with the lack of light and all, but she's not smiling quite the way she usually does.]

Hey, so... is everything closed on Christmas?

I thought stuff'd be open.

[...It probably doesn't help that she just took off in any which direction instead of going somewhere specific, but she hadn't been thinking. She hadn't known what to do. Phoenix wasn't there, Mia wasn't there... What could she do?]

Sooo. What's everybody doing tonight? For, you know. Celebrations.

[She just wants something to talk about-- something to take her mind off the argument-- and is doing her best to keep a smile on. Too bad it doesn't look like a real one.]

[She's having her own quiet night, now that the day's parties and stuff were settling. Gogo normally wouldn't have done more than skim the network and leave it alone but something about the girl's face seems wrong.]

Not everything, but anywhere you might want to be at is. What are you looking for?

Um-- anything. Maybe food?

[You know. Anywhere she can hide and sulk and eat.]

Do you like milkshakes?

[She's certainly thinking about finding this girl and treating her to a late dinner, even though they'd never talked before. She remembers watching her show, though, and the bubbly personality reminded her a lot of Honey.]

I-- kinda? I mean, I like pretty much everything. If it's good.

[She shrugs, smiling a little lopsidedly.]

You know where to get 'em?

I've got a couple of places. Depends on the city.

Um... I'm around Heropa right now.

[A bit sheepishly.]

[That explains the lack of winter coat. Good thing she's not freezing.

Heropa's easy. Gogo worked there during the semester so she knew the streets almost as well as she does De Chima.]

Well, Lucky Cat is closed, [Maya's already talking to Cass anyway.] but if you know where that is there's a place about two blocks north that caters mostly to students. My class frequents there a lot so I know they're open late. I recommend the cinnamon roll milkshake, personally.

Um... You don't have to! I'm-- I mean, if you want to.

[She's a bit nervous about being a problem tonight-- but Gogo seems... pretty cool, too. That, and Maya's noticed something.]

Your class? Like... high school, or college?

[She doesn't look like a high school student but there are a ton of them around here, so.]

College, though right now instead of attending I'm assisting. I work at the Heropa University for Dr. Wells.

[She used to attend back home, but it just wouldn't be the same here.

Gogo's moving to grab her jacket and shoes, unaware that Kaneda was already on his way to Maya's rescue location.]

Oh, you don't have to come out of your way! It's-- Christmas, right?

[She doesn't feel right letting people do this for her...]

But-- you should tell me more about the university! Someone suggested I should take classes there.

Yes it is. [And you're clearly alone in the dark, Maya. What kind of person would she be if she didn't at least give you company? She's still putting on her jacket.]

It's not a bad place. If you're interested at all in the science of motion, sign up for Dr. Wells's class. Hell, you can just drop by sometime to see if you like it. He's a tough professor, but you'll actually learn something. [Not that the other professors are terribly teachers, but she has high standards, okay?]
