Hello, everyone!

[Euphie certainly seems more sunny and back to her old self, but someone who knows her well can tell that her cheeriness is slightly forced. Not completely forced, but she's not quite as upbeat as she used to be.]

I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm coming to you all because I'm still looking for someone to whom I can entrust something very valuable to me.

[She links a picture of a gold and white robot, about 14 or 15 feet tall, standing in a dimly lit garage. She's clearly taken the picture herself.] This is the Lancelot, an experimental Knightmare Frame developed by the Camelot Special Research Division in my home nation, Britannia. It belongs to a dear friend of mine, but since he's not here, it seems to have been entrusted to me.

I'm not very qualified to operate it, however. I'd like to find someone honorable and trustworthy to whom I can give it. [She offers the camera a slightly sheepish smile.] It feels like a waste to leave Lancelot gathering dust, don't you think so?

Oh, thank you! Lancelot was designed by my brother's research division Camelot, so I'm sure he'd be pleased to hear that. It's the first seventh-generation Knightmare Frame! I'm afraid I can't speak to any of the intended strategy behind it, but from what I've seen and heard it's significantly higher-performance than any of the current combat models used by any of the three great powers around the globe.

[His expression falls somewhat]

Designed for combat, of course. Well I'm not particularly surprised.. We built Jaegers for a similar capacity. Unfortunately, I am no soldier. The most I could offer is repair work and diagnostics.

I am curious, however: is it operated remotely or directly piloted from within?

It's piloted from within! The large box-looking area near the upper back is the cockpit. It's detachable on most Knightmares, allowing pilots to escape a damaged unit, but not so on this one because of its experimental nature.

So you had things like this, too? Back home, I mean.

Fascinating. [A unique angle on piloting, and one he might even be able to manage if he had any combat proficiency at all. But it also stuck out rather obviously and despite wishing he could, there was no sense in it.

Oh, yes. Colossal aliens had invaded our world. We built the Jaegers to match them. But the neural strain was so much that they needed an additional pilot to stabilize the connection.

Oh! [Well, that clearly wasn't anything close to the answer she was expecting.] My word. How 'colossal' do you mean?

I've never heard of a Knightmare Frame piloted by more than one person.

Hm. [Finally tears his attention away from examining Lancelot]

Well the first invaders were something of 300 feet and upwards of 3,000 tons. By the end of the war however, they were almost double that. The Jaegers we built scaled to those first encounters, around 250-300 feet tall. By the time we saw larger Kaiju, our funding had run out.

Were your Knightmare Frames built for human wars?

...oh goodness, that's tremendous. I can scarcely imagine something that large!

Yes, that's correct. All three of the major world powers operate them in their armies; we've never even encountered anything not of this world, to the best of my knowledge.

I'm afraid the same will likely happen to our Jaegers in the near future. I suppose it's not surprising, but it would feel like a perversion of their original purpose.

[Pause, Hermann rubs a hand over his face]

But I'm getting off track. I hope you find someone suitable to pilot Lancelot.

Is that so? That's very... disappointing. I would have thought that such an external threat might have unified the globe once and for all.

I'm sure I will! There are bound to be capable pilots here, after all. I'd be honored if you would take a look at it later, if only to examine it, of course.

Oh, you'd certainly hope so. But that's an ideal that's not going to last beyond the ecological and economic recoveries.

Oh yes, I can certainly do that much. I'd be more than happy to, in fact. Whenever you've got time of course.

Perhaps I'm an idealist, then. [She says softly, almost sadly, before brightening at his next comment.] I'm quite free. When would be most convenient for you to come to Heropa?

[Heropa. Well that's somewhere he'd like to visit as infrequently as possible, but on the other hand, giant robot.]

Unfortunately I have plans for most of tomorrow, so unless this evening would work, perhaps later this week?
