[ Yep, it's Ambassador election time, and here's Adachi again, giving a sheepish smile to the camera. Does he get bonus votes for being tenacious? No? ]
Well, here we are again, guys; coming full circle back to Maurita Falls.
[ He let out a breath, leaning back in the chair he's seated in. Riza's tail can be seen for a moment, perking up from where she's seated on his lap, before he reaches down to shove it out of the way. ]
As usual, I'm pushing for my message of unity between imPorts and the native population. I think now, more than ever, we need to make sure people know that overall, we're on their side, not working against them. I feel the Alke has helped with this, but there's so much more we can do. In Maurita Falls specifically, I not only want to bring imPort support to the police department, but I want to make an effort in nipping criminal activity before it could even start.
I'd like to propose a youth center; a place where imPorts can work one on one with kids and young adults. Help them with school, with physical activity; help them find an outlet for their lives that doesn't ultimately lead to crime. This'll be great for them, helping them find positive role models, but I think it would be beneficial to imPorts that are struggling as well.
[ He paused a moment, absently reaching down to pet Riza. Her head perks up at that, looking up at him, and the thump of her tail against the desk can be heard. ]
...in honor of Ambassador Amidala, I want to bring back an idea of mine that she liked: mental health services for imPorts. Let's face it, we're all pulled here against our will, many of us while we're in the middle of no so great circumstances. It's jarring, and not all of us can recover from that, if at all. I want to push for a team to be right there at Cape Canaveral when we arrive, but also for there to be facilities open at every imPort city, so that anyone can get help any time they wish.
[ Riza reached up after that, licking under his chin. Adachi's face scrunched up, trying very hard to remain serious and not start laughing. ]
S-so yeah; be sure to toss me a vote this election, guys.

[As someone who only saw a military psychologist when she absolutely had to, she is not going to comment on the mental health program.]

Yeah, like that; probably could also overhaul the programs there to include more imPort support as well.

That was brought to my attention just recently. I admit, I wasn't aware; with how often I've been called on by the MFPD for assistance with youth-related crimes, I sadly missed it.
[ The "jerk" remains unspoken, though it's probably heard anyway. ]

I guess it's a reasonable mistake to make, considering you're probably still working off notes from when you ran in the De Chima and Nonah elections. Going for the tenacity vote this time?
no subject
Yes; working and improving on them as I go along. There's a lot to learn about how the different porter cities work outside of our own experience with them, and what ambassadors can do to influence that. There's also the more mundane issue of being sure not to step on the toes of the law as well.

More than one youth center might be helpful, I know there's the Endeavor Center. [And they could also double as evacuation centers if needed.] And we really do need more mental health services geared towards imPorts—Dr. Chilton's doing a good job, I'm sure, but he's probably a really busy guy.
You mentioned wanting to bring imPort support to the police department. Exactly how do you plan on doing that?
Maurita Falls could definitely use all the help it can get when it comes to youth centers, honestly. And Chilton is just one guy. Sure, one guy with a practice, but still one guy.
[ Adachi paused a moment, mulling it over. ]
Well, I know there are some imPorts that are placed with the police departments. My first job here was with the HPD. But what I don't think the different departments realize is that there are many imPorts willing to reach out and help on request, outside of what we're expected to do by the government. Having that outreach between the department and imPorts will help.
[ He paused a moment, before he shrugged sheepishly. ]
Though, I'm also familiar with how the MFPD works. It'll take a bit of work to get them to go with it as well.
[Yeah, Foggy knows, he's seen a few imPorts around at the police departments. He drums his fingers on his desk, thinking it over.]
A bridge between the police department and imPorts willing to help sounds like a good plan, at least in theory. The problem, I guess, would be jurisdiction: when do you call that help in? And what about imPort vigilantes who don't feel like working with the police? What do you do about those?
[Ah, vigilantes. Foggy has a complicated history with those. He also has a complicated history with the MFPD, because he just sighs deeply towards the ceiling.]
I've gotten the MFPD to work with me a little bit. The trick, I've found, is piling up the favors so they like you a little more than other imPorts.
Well, I know my own therapist wouldn't mind the signal boost.
[ Riza lifted her head up, letting out a soft yip. He placed a hand on her head, quietly murmuring, "No, not you," before he turned his focus back on the call. ]
Speaking from experience, vigilantism is always going to be a problem, especially in a place like this. I know there's more than one group like those Phantom Thieves from awhile back out there. Personally, I don't condone civilians taking the law in their own hands, but when it comes to the Falls, I'd take all the help I could get. So long as no one gets killed.
[ A faint smile crept up on his face. ]
I've noticed, trust me; I've had to work with them a few times myself.
[ Don't ask him how many favors he has hanging over his head. Just don't. ]

But with the secondary position opening up, it almost feels more tense than previous elections. You'd think it'd be the opposite.

I would imagine that even the possibility of working under Grievous would be unsettling, yes.

Grievous needs work, but he's not as bad as he was.
