So - okay. One question. A lot of questions, but let’s just go with one for now. Is it really true that people cope okay with their powers? And every ImPort gets them?

[ He shifts a little in his chair. Very awkward, a little uncomfortable. He knows he’s asking basic questions, but he just has to. At least he looks friendly enough, though his ragged, patched clothes give him away. Kid’s from a post-apocalyptic world and it shows. ]

Where I’m from, absolute power corrupting absolutely is really, really literal. So getting to keep the superpowers without the psychopathy just seems kind of nuts to me. Awesome nuts. Like - nuts with pop rocks in them. Pop rocks exist here, right? I haven’t had those in ages.

[ Focus, David. He needs to focus. ]

What kinds of powers does everyone have? And do you have trouble with it at all? I mean, if you don’t wanna tell me, that’s fine. I’m just a little bit jealous.

There are many ways to stop imPort powers. No imPort has absolute power that could corrupt absolutely. [ they wish they could. ] But every imPort has powers, yes. Some are more useless than others.

[ He's just relieved that people going crazy because of their powers seems to be an incredibly rare exception and not the rule. As for his own ... He rubs at the back of his neck. ]

It's not quite like that. Where I'm from, all powers are bad. If you use them, you turn into a psychopath.

That mostly seems to be the case here. People coping. Individually it'd vary, but there doesn't seem to be any common madness factor. Where I'm from it takes about two years, but there's people who have been 'round here longer than that. Maybe it just takes longer.

[ He says it a little wryly, but he and the Pantheon are also used to power corrupting. Being here has felt like a bit of a breather in that respect, so far. ]

It's not nuts, trust me. We've got plenty of problems with people abusing their powers, or losing control, but there's nothing inevitable about it.

As for me, I mastered my powers a long time ago. I'm a biotic, so I can manipulate mass effect fields in battle. Got a couple other tricks I've picked up from being here, too.

I've got three: I can drive anything, first try, without training or reading the manual. Feels a bit like cheating because that was the kind of thing I worked on back home. I can make real life copies of things from photos, unless it's big, and then I get a dinky little keyring of it. And this bracelet [she holds up her wrist to show it off], which I thought was just pretty when I picked it up back home, lights up and flashes around old things, which is annoying if someone happens to be wearing a generations old antique.

And by the bye, pop rocks do exist here. [She flashes a smile.]
