It sure has been a few harrowing months in Maurtia Falls, has it not?

[ Baelish flashes an exhausted smile. ]

And riding on the coattails of destruction and clean up was an election. Congratulations to Ambassador Delos and the first ever Deputy Ambassador Maximoff. As this city's mayor, I do hope to work with you both and help bring Maurtia Falls a stronger sense of security and growth.

And to everyone else who ran -- thank you. I am grateful for those who would stand up to represent this city. It's no secret Maurtia Falls is the toughest of porter cities -- to visit, to live in, to be an imPort in. And I believe now, more than ever imPorts need to demonstrate their leadership qualities and the good we can do. If any candidates have ideas or projects they wish to see happen within Maurtia Falls, please do feel free to speak with me.

[ Squaring his shoulders back, he sits up a bit taller to address the business part of this post. ]

A few months ago I addressed the network regarding the construction of an underground shelter. The plans and designs have already been drawn up and this project was slated to be completed within a year's time. But I think it's imperative to get this done much sooner. I am asking for engineers, builders, scientists -- anyone who has something to aid this project to volunteer their time and efforts. If all the citizens ever see is the destruction imPorts can bring, then we owe it to them to show the opposite, do we not?

[ There's a long pause. Baelish has in his fingers an engagement ring -- colorful with double DNA helix shapes of diamonds. ]

One final thing. To those who knew her: my fiancee Haen Hithiel has ported out for a month's time. I would like to be optimistic about her chances of returning, but given the nature of the porter... [ He trails off, offering only a helpless shrug. There is little anyone can do about port outs and port ins. ] That said, she ran the Maurtia Falls Endeavor Center. While my team and I have been overseeing things in her absence, this center was always meant to be an imPort vision -- to give children of this city a place to flourish while at the same time educating them about us. If this is something any of you would be interested in taking over, I would love to be able to reinstate an imPort director.

I believe it would be Haen's wish as well.

The Endeavor Center does good work. I'd like to help continue it. The kids in Maurtia Falls need all the help and support they can get.

For the shelter... it's good to see another project in the works for fixing up imPort relations. Maurtia Falls seems to get hit with the worst of stuff.

[ He doesn't live in MF, but he's there often enough for jobs and people he's close to live there as well. Recent events have not been kind to the city... ]

My hopes would be the shelter could prevent a great deal of the casualties we have seen. Although with the water damage after the flooding when the grounds had opened up, I worry they may also become a point of vulnerability.

Well, I didn't often bring her up because I hardly wished to make you jealous. But also, we did value our privacy.

It is the nature of things, however. And I know she would not wish for me to wallow. Truth be told, there's been no time to wallow with how chaotic it has been most recently here. Although I suppose you did not have it easy in De Chima after that....Shimmer, was it called?

A good question. My strategy has always been the same since I served as ambassador. I've focused on two aspects -- education and job creation. Creating jobs, better paying and more steady jobs, will create less of a demand to rely on crime and educating and enriching children will help prevent the future generations from becoming the next generation of criminals.

I've always believed that even if we focus on eliminating the problem, unless we approach the root of it, nothing will change. So while we could arrest criminals, increase jail space, bolster police forces -- it won't fix things long term.

Sorry for your loss, Mister Mayor. You aren't kidding about how tough things have been lately.

The new shelter could make a big difference. If Aegis Force can lend an extra set of hands or engineers, we'll pitch in. In return, I'd like to co-ordinate our emergency protocols with those of your office. We've got our own shelter in our headquarters, although it's probably smaller than what you're making. We'll save a lot of trouble if we communicate on which shelter should take in which people in an emergency.

It is an unfortunate truth that in times of chaos, the city becomes divided and lost -- not knowing where to go for safety. I think establishing above ground shelters is just as important as establishing the one underground. Different scenarios will merit different solutions. Furthermore, perhaps an expansion can be arranged so that your shelter can hold more people at a time?

What sort of scientists do you need for your project?

Well, engineers certainly. And people who could aid in building the....I believe the word that was used was "hydroponics?" A garden that would be completely sustainable underground in artificial settings. I want this place to be livable for a lengthy duration of time if need be.
