[ Today must be a day for shitposting, because Kanan's got one too. ]

You know, the text thing doesn't usually give me much trouble. The devices have a pretty good voice-to-text and text-to-voice function on them. Unless you're typing a bunch of abbreviations, they can be hard to parse sometimes. The letter "y" seems to be either "why" or "yes" depending on the context, for instance. Still haven't figured out "L O L".

I even get some of those... what do you call them, "emojis". The device will tell me if there's a little smiling face or a finger pointing to the left or whatever, that's fine. Right up until there's a bunch of... vegetables? I don't know a lot of the vegetables on this planet. What even is an "eggplant", and what is "eggplant sweatdrops"? Are you watering your vegetable garden?

[ He's asking the tough questions. ]

[ Oh- one of these people. He hasn't met many of them, so it's all a bit beyond him, but...he'll just shove the incomprehensibility of it in the back of his mind for now. ]

Then...this must be very strange.

[ A pause. He never knows what will set people off. But this man seems calm. ]

Do you know anyone, here? From your home.

[ Luckily, there is very little that could set Kanan off, and probably nothing that this kid could say. ]

There are several people here from my galaxy, though I only knew one or two of them back home.

[ "Galaxy" is a bit vast. But he's not the type to contest it. ]

That is good. If- if this place is so different, for you.

[ He's not going to state there's apparently no one here from his world; he can't imagine his own shock at arriving here was worse than Kanan. ]

It is what it is.

[ None of the people he'd really want to have here are here - and they probably shouldn't be here, anyway. ]

How about you? Have anyone you know from home here?

No. [ A short pause. Him being alone here has been both a blessing and a curse, in his circumstances. ]

If anyone is here...they are not someone I know. [ Considering the circumstances his world was in? It's possible. But very unlikely. ] But I do not think so.

Luckily, regardless of who is or isn't here from our own worlds, there are actually a lot of people here who are decent enough.

[ There are. It always makes him feel odd. It doesn't seem right. ]

I noticed. But...I noticed that is not always true.

[ A short pause. ]

I am- I am surprised, that there are not more for who it is not true.

Little bit pessimistic about whether people are inherently good, are you?

[ He grimaces, though Kanan can't see it. It's not quite that, but...it sort of is. He stammers a bit before he finds the way he wants to respond. ]

I- I know- there are many problems, here. Often. I...thought it would happen more than it does.

[ He got stuck in the Shimmer in his first month. It made an impression. ]

There are problems everywhere. But I think some of us - depending on where we come from, of course - are maybe used to things being a lot worse than what they usually are here.

It's an interesting problem to find yourself in, I can tell you that much.

[ Kanan's touched onto his exact problem. He really is bad at hiding these things, isn't he. ]

...Do you think it will last?

How long are you asking? Nothing lasts. Things change all the time. I hope, for the sake of this world, that they don't have to experience the kinds of things that have happened in mine. But even if that holds true, there will be other things that happen here. Some better, some worse.

[ He certainly knows that nothing lasts- but it feels strange to live in a world where many of the people he's met are more optimistic than not, and the threat is not always completely clear. At least in his own world he'd been taught methods to deal with things. ]

I- I think you are right. [ A pause. ] But...I do not think it will be a long time.

Yeah, I mean, everything in life is temporary. Here, things tend to be even more temporary. Weeks, or months, instead of years.
