[So maybe he was gone for a couple days and needed the time to deal. He doubts anyone had been looking for him during that time since he disappears all the time. His memories took time to settle, to get him used to everything he'd had back home being...gone.

To not even having the same skills he'd had back home when he came back. He could feel they were gone. The All-Blades. It was like an empty kind of void he didn't know he would have if they weren't there, but it existed all the same. Then there was the hair...]

So, how often do people lose skills they had back home and end up with new ones altogether? Because I can't say I enjoy the unexpected swap.

I can't say I had any abilities back home that were beyond the grasp of a normal human with sufficient training, but I haven't lost any of that. Only... gained some new abilities that are a pain in my backside.

This place doesn't care about the fact giving random people powers they don't know what to do with isn't that great of an idea. The Porter may be powerful, but it's not that smart.

What do you make of the claims that there is an entity in control of the Porter? Some... deific being?

Wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true. Powerful beings tend to not give a shit either If God is causing this shit, then their either sadists, or chaotic neutral.

Is that a common descriptor for deities? I'm afraid my galaxy doesn't have much in the way of such religious beliefs.

In some places, but gods also are real where I'm from--some of them--so religion has a funny way of stealing from truth to build a cult.

I'm unfamiliar with gods, but I do know of such cults of faith, or things like it. [ He certainly thinks the Jedi count as a cult. ] They never end well.

You know more than you think. That's the truth of any kind of religion and/or cult, right there. Usually ends in hate, war, and lots of murder.

The world is a better place without any of that, but... I suppose sometimes it is inevitable.

It's not inevitable except people are naive and get swept up in wanting to be part of something big and powerful. So they don't have to take responsibility for their lives.

I don't think there's inherently something wrong with wanting to be a part of something bigger than yourself, to enact change in a world that needs it. To strive for an ideal, and to join up with others who also believe in that ideal.

Sure. The problem is when you think someone else is gonna give you all the answers about what that is.
