[So maybe he was gone for a couple days and needed the time to deal. He doubts anyone had been looking for him during that time since he disappears all the time. His memories took time to settle, to get him used to everything he'd had back home being...gone.

To not even having the same skills he'd had back home when he came back. He could feel they were gone. The All-Blades. It was like an empty kind of void he didn't know he would have if they weren't there, but it existed all the same. Then there was the hair...]

So, how often do people lose skills they had back home and end up with new ones altogether? Because I can't say I enjoy the unexpected swap.

Yeah, not the same thing at all. I can't call the All-Blades. They're gone. Not like I used 'em around here, but I don't like them disappearing out of nowhere.

Whatever I got instead doesn't matter. It's all useless bullshit when I have guns instead.

I can't say I had any abilities back home that were beyond the grasp of a normal human with sufficient training, but I haven't lost any of that. Only... gained some new abilities that are a pain in my backside.

The end result is mostly the same, so I think so? Without getting into too much detail, I have a partner who lets me perform certain abilities... even though he's not here, some of them still work.

That sounds extremely disconcerting... if not outright distressing. [ She has a slight frown, a betrayal of her empathy despite her calm demeanor. The only noteworthy things about her are her pale yellow eyes and odd, impossible-to-place accent. ]

I could not say how common it is. Mine did not change at all, fortunately.

[Yeah he's not switching from voice to video, especially not over the public network, for someone he doesn't even know. He's not going to argue whether he's "distressed" or not either, as that's just asking for it to seem like he is and he's not. So there.]

So you lucked out. Good for you. I'd say most of the people with powers around here keep the ones they had before they got here.

It's happened to me a few times. It's... for me, it hasn't been easy, losing something that's been so important for my whole life.

Sometimes I forget that it's gone, but that just makes remembering it worse.

[Jason is thankful the All-Blades weren't that integral to him and his life. Sometimes he forgot he had them.]

Do you mean, is it something I would die without? No, not that dire. But, as it was, it was for that purpose that I was born, in the first place. Things like this work differently, where I came from.
