Hello.

[Georgia is sitting, unsmiling, at her desk, but her laptop is closed in front of her. There's a window open--she keeps them closed most of the time but she recognizes the value of being well lit when you're on camera. It means she has to be wearing her sunglasses, but that's nothing new either. She's almost never seen without them.]

I'm working on an article about the effectiveness of imPorts, especially superheroes, in establishing long-term positive change. If you consider change to be a goal, I would appreciate if you could take a few minutes to talk to me on the record.

[She adjusts slightly, leaning forward, her hands steepling in front of her.]

Whether or not you are actively working for it, I am also interested in hearing what would, to you, qualify as a positive change. I am aware of how subjective a topic it is. I do not intend to make a statement in any direction until I've gathered as many facts as possible to build my opinion.

[She feels a chill down her spine. For someone who regularly shoots zombies, she's never considered herself an especially violent person.

Her expression stays the same. She's good at not reacting. Even when she hates what's being said. The sunglasses help, as always.]

So the change you believe in is overseas military action.

The change I believe in is us not being restricted. If we wanna go out and take those OTO fuckers down, we should be able to without permission. If we wanna go to another country to stay, we should be allowed to do that, too.

[ He takes a moment to light up a cigarette. ]

But, like most pets, we're here. Gettin' our balls chopped off. Bein' reprimanded when we step outta line.

You really don't see any way giving us full permission to do whatever we want could go wrong?

Oh, I see where it could go wrong from their point of view. But I think they're only fightin' off the tides of the inevitable. Eventually there's gonna be an uprising here. So maybe loosening up their hold on us will make it less likely we'll rebel in the end.

I mean where it could go wrong for innocent civilians who’d get hurt in the crossfire.

Call me paranoid, but I don’t trust your or any other single person’s judgment when it comes to identifying terrorists.

[ He fakes being wounded by her words for a moment. ]

You and I come from the same sorta shitty world, Georgia. And I'd like to think you've seen the worst humanity can be as well as have a knack for telling who would turn into the worst of the worst. You think I don't have that same skill?

[She raises an eyebrow behind her sunglasses.] Sure. Everyone turns into the worst of the worst when they turn.

We’re not in that same shitty world. Your skills don’t apply in the same way.

I'm not talking about when they turn. But before they turn. People down in their core are shitty. Maybe you didn't experience it the way I did 'cause it sounds like you still had a civilization. But once you lose that, once it becomes everyone fending for themselves -- you see how people really are. They'll lie, cheat, steal, kill to get the things they want.

The way things are here -- the way this OTO thing is going, you really think the breakdown of civilization is that far away?

Yes I do.

[There's steel in her voice.]

They're a threat, yes, but they haven't taken us out yet, and acting impulsively is a good way to change that. Until then, I refuse to believe that the world as we know it is ending until it actually happens.

And if it does? I'll do the same thing I always do. I may not be able to stop the cheating, stealing, and killing, but I swear to fuck I won't let anyone lie about it on my watch.

[ He can't help but laugh. It's a good natured laugh, not one necessarily making fun of her. ]

Well, goddamn. I'd say all those liars better watch out. Good thing I always shoot it straight.

[ Negan steals, cheats, AND kills. But at least he doesn't lie about it! ]

I heard a rumor, you know. This war goddess or whatever the fuck it is -- Atropos? She destroyed the world before this one. 'Cause for some imPorts, this is their second round bein' imPorts. And round one ended not so well. Know what I also heard? These OTO assholes are trying to summon her. So I'm not just talking out of my ass here. I think if these guys are left unchecked, we're gonna be fucked straight up the asshole without lube.

Where did you hear this rumor?

[It's not that she doesn't believe him, exactly. She knows about Atropos, and she knows the OTO is bad news. But she doesn't publish unsourced facts. Rumors are worthless to her.]

And how do you know what they're allegedly trying is even possible?

Rumor came from this little lady's post.

[ He drops a link to Ruka's post about the three sisters. ]

And I don't know for sure it's what they're trying. But a lot of news reports link the two names.

Little lady. [Her frown deepens.] Disrespectful term for a woman who is clearly far more informed than you are. Or for anyone, really.

It sounds like you are talking out of your ass. I'm not saying the OTO is not a threat. They've made that clear enough. But this is all conjecture. Not facts.
