one . video . id: the Outsider . Foward-dated to the 5th.
[ It's Maurtia Falls on the 5th - the Outsider had come here specifically, when he'd heard rumours of what was happening.
He looks like a a young man with dark hair and dark clothes, the style a little unusual, but notably his eyes are pitch black. But maybe not that unusual for an imPort.
What is definitely odd is the dream-thing he's standing beside. It looks like a man in a hood and a strange mask, sword in hand, watching the Outsider. But there's no colour and a strange texture to him, like an old photograph. Then the monochrome man flickers, and changes into a younger woman, scarf pulled over her face, not quite standing in the same place or in the same pose. The dream-creation keeps doing this, flickering between the two.
The Outsider had only thought of hollows, possibilities, and a father/daughter pair he once knew, and this came into being. He waves a hand at the two-in-one assassin. ]
It seems as though reality is cracking.
What once existed only in our minds are appearing into existence in the world. They don't belong here, do they?
But then again, neither do we.
I wonder, what are the consequences of bringing into the world what doesn't belong? What will happen if this continues?
[ A police officer walking by has spotted the odd pair and very quickly the assassin(s) raises a wrist-bound crossbow and shoots the man with a sleep dart, causing him to collapse unconscious on the ground. Then the dream assassin disappears in thin air and reappears next to the cop, heaves the body over one shoulder and they both vanish.
The Outsider watches this impassively, letting the camera catch it all, before turning back to the screen. ]
Will reality keep slipping, degrading, breaking through the holes in the world and the holes of our minds? Or if there's some way to fix what's broken? Will one of you know the answer?
I don't. [ He sounds pleased to say that.
The assassin blinks back next to him, still flickering, watching him speak. The Outsider ignores them and pulls the comm closer so it's focused on him. ]
I think I'm going to enjoy it here.

voice; un: ^Graff
He uses a vocal manipulator to make his voice sound older, deeper, more electronic. He's too tired to type out what he wants to say, but there would be no point to the ^Graff profile if he sounded like a child. ]
This isn't the first time things have slipped through. But this is different. I don't think the Porter is behind this.

Now that's interesting. Do you believe you have a theory? Or are you willing to share some astute observations?

Something, or someone? Either way, it'd certainly be a show.
Is that how you normally confront your problems?
no subject
Either. And sometimes explosions get the job done better.

[ Reality, that is. Or that's Rupert's opinion anyway. He pauses thoughtfully, considering what he'd just seen with the disappearing police officer. ]
That was a neat little trick.
no subject
[ He doesn't outright acknowledge the comment about the "neat little trick", but there is a flicker on screen as within the blink of an eye, he's changed location, crouching, on a rooftop. After a moment, the assassin joins him. ]
If you wanted it to continue, would you be willing to defend it?
no subject
[ His tone and his smile are flippant and airy; honestly, he's simply enjoying this discord for what it is. A moment of pure chaos. ]
Although I hardly think it needs defending - or rather, it certainly doesn't need my help. Good luck to anyone who's stupid enough to pit themselves against the power of chaos. I don't fancy their chances.

Video
The Joker is in her bedroom, carrying a bloody police badge in one hand and a singed, torn domino mask in the other. His cackle echoes unnaturally, and his form blurs at the edges. He smells like blood and cordite and ashes.
The badges warps in his hand, becoming a gun. "Long time no see, Babsy! Where should I am this time? Oooh, right through the glasses?"
He wasn't the only thing that came out of her dreams, though. Barbara raises her father's gun and shoots him through the head.
Her clothes are different now, and her hair is damp from a shower. She doesn't look like a woman who just shot someone; her focus is entirely in this moment, grimly concerned and on the edge of righteous anger.]

[ It doesn't seem to bother the Outsider, and it doesn't. He's more concerned with the vision he just had a glimpse of. So short! Such context he's missing! He can guess a few things - someone who hurt her, returned as a construct. The lack of remorse in her response - tantalizing little hints.
He doesn't ask about it directly, but. ]
Does that bother you, Babsy?

Voice Only - He's still figuring this thing out
voice;
The Outsider hasn't been here very long, but he's observant - he read the network and eavesdropped on some conversations in this city. ]
The local people whisper as if these occurances were new. A fascinating development, don't you think?

Fixing what's broken? The strange stuff will stop, either on its own or someone will stop it. But we'll have to live with what happened. People are going to have memories of their nightmares coming to life. That's harder to fix.
[She looks at him curiously]
You don't seem like you're having nightmares. Are your good dreams about cop hunters?
[She means the assassin(s); she's assuming he's the one connected to the him/her/them.]
no subject
[ He walks around the assassin construct as it switches between the two, and when it is Corvo, the Outsider speaks ]
A father. A daughter. Both of whom I gave a gift. Friends from home.

Am I to blame for the actions of a thought given life? Or is it the responsibility of whatever caused this?

Your friend has a cute trick, don't they?

More is the pity. I would hope it would end in a more satisfying way, rather than a quiet return to normality.
As for my friends, it was a gift.

– Nadia steps into the street and a cab hits her immediately, straight on, throwing her small body to the ground, eyes wide and unseeing, a smear of blood like cheap lipstick across her forehead —
-when things were already breaking apart. This is more of the same. ]
How can you tell? How the fuck can you even tell what's real?

I know that this - [ He gestures to the strange assassin, flickering between realities. ] is a fractured thing that shouldn't exist. I have seen similar things before. Cracks in the slab.
This is a sallow reflection, acting exactly as I would expect them to. But I liked them because they did not always act as I expected.
