PARKING UP THE WRONG TREE
As seen in the De Chima newsprint rounds:
De Chima Park Services are investigating the reappearance of all ducks at the duck pond in Kirby Park—and then some, as the overnight return of twice the amount of ducks that previously resided there (including an extra pair of Mandarin ducks, plus ducklings) has drawn a great deal of local attention. Park officials have offered a modest reward for information leading to whoever played this fowl prank.
TAYLORED TO PERFECTION
As seen circulating online, and via some local graffiti:
Once news of Commander Jacob Taylor's passing hit the headlines after the Aegis Force press conference, anti-Aegis online critics known as Shieldbreakers were quick to voice their critical dissatisfaction with the choices for the commanders of the imPort super-team in his absence; Ashley Williams and Archie. They claim to have an anonymous source whom Williams threatened with destruction of his entire cloud drive for taking her photo while Archie was responsible for widespread damage in Maurtia Falls in January of last year, as well as a recent suspension from duty for destruction of property.
"Is this why he picked them?" one source asks. "Because he knows he wouldn't be around to have to bother with their failures? Maybe this is a joke to him after all. They're the punchlines."
It seems that the criticism didn't just stop at the new leaders-- it truly opened the floodgates for the rest of the team. Recent trending Bwitter hashtag "#LoseLucina" claiming that Lucina has no apparent use on the team beyond being a generic mascot that's overstayed her welcome among other concerns that she chiefly represents Aegis's willingness to hire teenage imPorts and put them in the line of fire.
u evr spoken 2 her? its like a brick wall w/ a couple generic pr responses Bweets user hot_takeasaurus. u can c why they recruited an idiot like that
With the online and offline criticism mounting in the face of a command shuffle, Aegis is surely set to have some tough times ahead. Any attempts of their own at satisfying the situation only stoke the fire; online reports have seen Jeroen Akobi's methods of public relation picked apart, with many accusing him of being "uninspiring", "blatantly lying" and "incapable of saying a single sentence without making it the worst it can possibly sound."
Only time will tell how the imPort team manage to handle this subjective start of a fall from grace, especially with the history of other imPort collaborations in the past.
ICEBREAKER OR CON-VERSATIONAL?
As heard on the morning podcast COASTER TO COASTER:
Notable conspiracy touter Paul Davelides was featured on one of the morning editions of COASTER TO COASTER, a podcast renowned for its assumption that everyone drinks coffee in the morning, and everyone uses coasters to protect their fine wooden tables whilst doing so. Davelides, author of VANISHED 411, talks about the occurrence of appeared and disappeared items from this world, their connection to imPorts, and how this happening has been a sign of the impending apocalypse.
"The fabric of reality is tearing," Davelides said during the interview. "The men and women in DARPA can't hide it any longer. The truth is spilling out, overflowing with every new imPort incoming. And we don't have the right equipment to handle the flux!"
CODE SWITCH
The Homeland Security Advisory System has moved from MOURNING GLOW in honor of the fallen Jacob Taylor to ENDLESS BREADSTICKS GARDEN GREEN.

It would seem that no matter how much good you attempt to bring to this world, there will always be those who complain.

I think the idea of a 'mascot' is lost in translation here. Maybe it's just my backwater world, but a 'mascot' is someone who embodies the team they represent. Lucina's strong, dedicated, and most importantly, puts the world before herself.
Wait, mascots are the same thing here? Huh. Fancy that. If the Shieldbreakers wanna make us look bad, maybe they should try a little harder than just namecalling.
They can wait for us all afternoon in the school yard for that fight they're itchin' for.
We have better things to do.

[granted, a "willingness to hire teenagers and put them in the line of fire" is a valid criticism, but that is clearly not their priority here, and there's a lot of cultural nuance that's being glossed over.]

Just let people who clearly know how to fight do that in a group of fellow trained individuals. I'm sixteen and you can bet that not being a part of a team isn't stopping me from fighting when there's trouble. And honestly? I'm worse off for it than I would be if I had experienced backup, the same can be said for anyone. The fact that she has a team means she's safer than those of us who don't, and this attempt to pressure her out of the position is ignoring that fact.
Commander Akobi talks just like most people with military experience, those guys are just stupid.

Back home we have dedicated rules [ laws ] to allow heroes in training to take on threats to the public. We start out under the guidance of the adult heroes before we are allowed to act without them. We do have continuous contact with the nearest military base so that we can ask for advice or backup as needed.
If it would be of any help I would be happy to recall every specific I could about the rules. We had classes to memorise them so that we wouldn't feel obligated to take bigger risks than we needed to, [ That was an absolute lie, it was so they could use the law to get out of tight spots when someone tried to use it against them. ] so I can probably recite most of them!
[ Nightfall decided better than to comment on the rest of the post. She had yet to see Aegis Force in action for herself, and what she saw floating around on the network didn't give her much hope. That said, the majority of the criticisms being little more than the equivalent of trolling made her want to roll her eyes.
The critics of the military's use of superpowered individuals, and the individuals themselves, back in her world were far more well thought out, even if she thought they were full of absolute crap. If this was the biggest resistance this world had to heroes doing their jobs, then they would be easy to run a cyber-campaign against if anyone here had the sense to do so. ]

[Just. Going to studiously ignore the Shieldbreakers' bullshit.]
