Hello, I’ve been told that new arrivals are encouraged to reach out and see if anyone else they know has already come here. My name is Jean Grey, and I come from another Earth.

[ It is at least half true, and more besides. She’s used to complicated truths, and the bending walls of time and reality and the far reaches of the Omniverse. Jean doesn’t always love it, but it could be worse. It could be so much worse. Everything she’s touched and sensed since waking has not been anywhere near as bad as some of the times she’d woken. From the ocean, the ground, alternate universes, future timelines, past ones, completely outside of all of them. ]

I'm seeking any of my family and friends who might already be here.

I’d, also, like to reach out to those currently running things. I would like to learn more about what has been happening here the last few years, and to the world I heard came before this one, at least to the best of my ability. I appreciate anyone’s help that would be willing.

[ The phrase is parroted back, but there's nothing just a simple, gentle curiosity to it. To the trail off of his voice and the posture that looks almost like reluctance or chagrin. She can't be sure from here, and she doesn't recognize the face, but there's something more there. ]

I was the kid who woke Magma up and blew up the medical wing. I don't know if you were, um... [ around. dead. most of what happened when he'd first come to the school had been a terrifying whirlwind of change and he'd been too focused on himself to pay much attention to anything else. ] I wasn't gold then.

Eh... call it 50/50? Common in my world, not so much here. I just wanted to warn you that there was a version of you here before - from a different world, I think. You guys look a little different, but you got the same name.

If you meet people from home, though, they might be different than you expect. [Her tone suggests she's speaking from experience.]

It depends. They could be so close that you forget, until they do something that you don't expect. Or they could be almost entirely different people.

Of course, different points in time can cause that too, depending on how much has happened.

Gabby? [ The first break in the companionable compromis between her calm and her seriousness (until she figured out more of this place) happens for the familiar face and voice of the young girl that appears, followed by the guest appearance of her wolverine. ] Are the others here, too?

[ The possibly filling up spaces only silent hope, mixed with the hope for others to be left untouched by whatever this was, shifting, changing, growing different features. The possibility of more of them, beside the possibility of no one else, and while Gabby was undeniably going to survive most anything that happened to her, it didn't mean she should be thrown somewhere alone across the lines of the universes either. ]

Yes! [Gabby claps her hands in delight.] Wait do you recognize me or did you read my mind?

[She isn’t bothered by the idea, she’s just checking. Besides Laura, no one’s come from her world and also recognized her.

Her smile dims a little and she shakes her head.]

Just me. Laura was here a while ago, but she was ported out and I was left behind.

[She knows it’s not Laura’s fault, but she can’t help but feel a little resentful. She doesn’t like being alone.]

[ She remembers that time. The contention, and the silence. If the things it brings to light are not the one Laurie mentions. Terrible in their own right. Terrible for more people. Still not the first thing it had brought to mind. Some pains did not heal as simply as skin and bones could. ]

How long have you been here? Are you from then?
