Text;

I have been wondering... For those of you not from Earth (or from an Earth significantly different from this one), what do you think of humans?

Humans can also tell me what they think of humans. I don't mind.

Do you have favorites? Do you have frustrations? Are you enjoying your stay?

[well you see I knew a few centuries-old people who couldn't figure out how not to do a tragedy and my 14-year-old best friend sister did in five minutes OKAY THINK OF AN ALTERNATE EXPLANATION FOR THE VIEWING PUBLIC]

It happens sometimes with elders--not all, but more than a few who won't consider new possibilities. Or who decide that the reason there are problems today are because people don't do things like they used to. The youth aren't respectful, women don't know their place. They're too afraid of the world changing to allow themselves to see that progress is good.

Not that young people don't fall into the same faults.

[nope, fuu's just good at finding people with Big Pillar Energy. somehow.]

Unfortunately, yes.

Still, I think that even though it takes lifetimes, and there are many self-inflicted setbacks, humans as a society are better off now than we were a few centuries ago.

There's history books. On the other hand, they're usually written by people who think that the age they're presently in is the best or at least more important one.

Still, more people are living healthy lives--there are fewer plagues; childhood maladies and grievous injuries that would have been a death sentence a hundred years ago now can be treated. And more people have civil rights and the ability to decide their own lives.
monster_san: somewhat skeptical (I have spotted a flaw in this system)

[...okay. well. no she can't. but it wasn't for normal earth reasons.]

<font face="courier>I think so, yes. I'm sure I'll deal with sexism when I'm old enough to begin my career, but I'll still be able to decide what that will be. I don't have difficulties at home, or with money. But I know not everyone is so lucky even in my era. (Leaving aside the issue of being called to another world, of course.)</font>
