[ He's run the math a couple times now. Based on the cheapest recipes he can find, with the best (if limited) range of nutrition with no expensive snacks, and the assumption that he can convince his minimum wage job to give him overtime, he has to work ... sixty hours a week to keep up with his metabolism. Yikes.
So this broadcast shows him prepping meals on a weekend morning, filling old yogurt tubs with a bean fried rice recipe that, well. Frankly it looks kind of gross, but Peter's made it before and it tastes just fine as long as he mixes in the crusty burnt spots with the rest of it. He's still short on calories for the week, though, and while he thinks he's convinced a local place that the spectacle of an imPort eating half the menu will be worth the cost of giving it to him for free, he really needs to figure out something a little more long term. ]
So, um - does anyone have any weird or cool tech they need help with repairing? Like, anything from home you can't get parts for here? The job they gave me here isn't gonna be enough, and I'm pretty good at that kind of thing.
[ Clearly, he's not a cook. ]
Or cheap recipe suggestions, that'd be awesome too.

The food looks, well, disgusting, but also like something 622 would eat, so he can't help but raise an eyebrow at it.
The words on the other hand -- ]
I mean, I can always use help with the security systems that BB-8 left, force knows I don't know how to get them working again.
But is everything okay, buddy? You looking for work?
private until noted otherwise
Anyway, he absolutely brightens to see Poe's face pop up on his comm. Oh good, he hadn't weirded the guy out too much with his fanboy faces. ]
That sounds like something I can figure out. Yeah. Um, I can take a look.
-- And yeah, I'm fine? It's just that most of the jobs that take seventeen-year-olds don't exactly pay great, so getting some extra would be amazing.

[Drumming his fingers on the table in front of him.]
Instant noodles? Or you could make stew out of whatever’s in the pantry. Or, what was it called, easy-bake mac and cheese?
Push comes to shove, you can always order cheap takeout. Or have a lunch out with someone you know.
video unless noted otherwise
[ He listens to those suggestions, thinking. ]
Some of that stuff is actually really expensive? Uh, based on the budget I've got and the calories I need. And I'm not gonna freeload off my friends.

[If you don't mind Japanese or Asian based stuff.]
video unless noted otherwise
We definitely do, but ... Uh, I eat a lot? So it's not enough.
[ Peter is 100% okay with Japanese and/or Asian stuff. As long as there's no shellfish involved, they're often surprisingly kosher recipes. ]

Otherwise, I could give you a poor cooking class. I know you eat more than a normal person, but I was used to making food for two.
private until noted otherwise
I'm fine, I've just got to figure out the math here. May and I had a bunch of great recipes for "keeping me alive" food, but I don't have any of them with me.

Oh, no. Are you planning on eating the same thing every day? There are plenty of different ways to eat beans and rice. Other recipes too. Why don't you come on down to the diner and I'll show you some easy meals after my shift. You can have a meal here too. I can use my nutritional manipulation power to give it extra calories, vitamins, fiber, whatever you need to feel full.
video unless noted otherwise
You - what? You can just make food have whatever calories and nutrition you want?

Do you have an idea of how many calories a day you need?
private until noted otherwise
I - uh, hang on. You'd probably get a lot out of EDITH's feed.
[ There's some muffled noises as Peter messes with his comm, and then the feed cuts out for a moment. But when it comes back on, it's from Peter's perspective - through EDITH's, technically. There's an AR overlay for the room now, with all sorts of data pulled up and available. The recipe he's using, for starters, with notes on the side for calories per dollar as well as key nutrition stuff. (The recipe itself is scanned, written in his aunt's hand.) But he tugs forward a table with a bunch of data in it. Basically, he's got a fitness app feeding into it - tracking his weight, caloric input and output, etc. ]
Uh, it depends on how beat up I get. I think my healing factor eats up the most energy? But it's at least 10K calories a day, and sometimes closer to 15K.
