That swearing in ceremony was a hoot.   I had so much fun!  Especially that turkey leg eating contest.  I told Harry, my boss, all about it.   He thought it'd be fun to have something similar at the diner.  Instead of individuals competing to see who could eat the most, we'd have a food challenge.   Like if you can eat twelve of my chili cheese dogs in half an hour, they're free.   Or maybe fifteen in forty-five minutes.  Fun, right?   And it might bring more attention to the diner.   I have to admit there's a problem.   Harry wants me to use my nutritional manipulation power to make the food fill people up faster.   He says they'll expect it, given that I'm an import.   It feels like cheating to me.   I just don't know if I should do it.

[Lacey sighs.]

There's one another little thing.   I did make a very attractive pirate at the fair and with all the mead, I may have acted a bit...flirty that afternoon. I can see that may have been amusing. That said, if anyone out there is responsible for hiding my things and replacing them with pirate items, please stop. Or at least give me the other earring so I have a pair.

[She holds up a gold earring and gives a little chuckle.]

What counts as 'pirate items,' if it's okay to ask?

It's okay.  There are these boots.   [She holds a pair of high black boots.]   They're actually cute but I need to find my real boots.  I'm from Saskatchewan.  I know what boots will hold up in all kinds of weather.  And these wouldn't survive the first walk in the rain.  They're like part of a Halloween costume.

[She places the boots back on the floor.] 

My butcher's knife is missing and there was a toy sword in its place.   My sunglasses were replaced with an eye patch.   A pirate hat in my bathroom, where I keep my ponytail elastics.  In my dresser, there's a pair of underwear with the phrase pirate's booty on the behind. Not my style.

[Clark listens, eyebrows going higher and his laughter getting harder to quell as she continues. In the end, he can't hide a few snickers.]

Sorry, sorry—that's, ah, quite the haul, isn't it? Enough to fill up a ship, even.

[Slap him.]

[Lacey smirks.]

I don't know about a boat.  Maybe just a treasure chest.   

[She gives a small chuckle.]

I wouldn't mind so much if they were leaving me real gold coins.

Seems a little unfair, doesn't it? I guess the mischief-makers weren't rolling in cash. Or they were just stingy.

Cheap can be a good motivator. I'll keep an eye out for anyone wearing my sunglasses.

I'll try to keep an eye out for purloined eyewear as well. [He laughs.] Was it fun to be a pirate? I ended up a black knight.

Thank you. [She grins.]  It was fun!  I felt like I had to get in as much partying as I could before I had to get back on my pirate ship.  I was very uninhibited. How was being a knight?

It was....bracing. I kept wanting to start fights. Which is bad when you have a sword, even if it's blunted.

Oh no. Did anyone get hurt?

I'm sorry. No on should get hurt at a fair.

Not that they should get hurt anywhere else.
