003. - Book Club!

Alright, so I've suggested this a little to some friends of mine, but I'm thinking about throwing this out a bit wider.

I'm thinking about starting up a book club. Less in the style of book of the month and more organizing one or possibly more groups who can share books or even genres they love most with other people. People would still do the whole guiding discussion but not looking for high end critique so much as just talking about it.

We all need something to unwind and I don't doubt some of us are really fans of reading. I would think the arrangement might work best with members willing to buy their own books. I think for the first few meetings I'd be willing to cook either a simple meal or some finger foods to enjoy, but people could also volunteer to provide food or drinks.


Anyone interested in the idea?

Then a small group sounds perfect. How about you pick the book. Also, how did the candied fruit turn out? I'm still worried I messed that up.

If you wish. You may be served well by others with different palettes than mine, however.

Yeah, but Marco and Peter are young and would eat literally anything, Josh doesn't need food so he probably wouldn't comment on it much, and Laurie would say I'm fussing over her.

But if you'd prefer I not go to the friend who appreciated me giving her crystallized fruit, I can find someone else.

Please understand that I am not trying to be difficult. I do not know anyone or anything about this group as it's forming, and so I would rather prefer to defer to the opinions of the majority until I understand what is acceptable and what isn't.
As for the fruit, I only meant that my opinion only holds sway over myself and I cannot speak to whether or not something is good in general, which I assume is your goal, if "test subject" is what you intend me to be.

Cecelia, I know you're not trying to be difficult. But I'll see that Laurie and I choose something nice.

And you can tell me if something is too sweet or sour or bitter. Even general people's opinions helps me built a frame of reference, comparing your opinions to mine and to the kids I tutor. But again, I've got that 'growing boys' thing. I swear, I've seen a teenage guy eat an entire jar of gefilte fish and drink the liquid. Teenage boys are terrible judges.

Now here's something you CAN help me on. It's traditional for these things to have snacks for people to enjoy. For a small group I can DEFINITELY customize those. What can I make for you?
