[Shaun is not usually one to post things anonymously. He's always been a blogger. He's used to life in the public eye back home. But this... Well. This discussion isn't one he's quite ready to have openly. Not with Georgia around. Not with Becks also here.]

So none of us asked to be dragged to this place, right? But now that we're here, I can't be the only person who doesn't want to leave.

I know that could change. It could change fast.

How do you handle it? Living a life that could get ripped away at any minute?

I know that's always true. I know it real fucking well. But it's even more true and immediate here somehow. So how do you deal with that besides super heavy denial?


[And denial only works so well when there's a quiet voice at the back of your mind, one that hasn't been given a chance to put down deep roots or find its volume, but one that is there and waiting to whisper the worst sort of warnings and worst case scenarios.]

Couple things. Statistics for one. Buses and bullets and bullshit, life expectancy is still a good chunk of time for the average person. The Porter's timeline is a couple years at most, much less more often than not.

And yeah, second part is exactly that. You can't do shit about a lot of random things in life. But maybe there's something that can be done with the Porter. No clue what the hell that is. Maybe it's nothing. But maybe it's not.

You do realize "deal with it" is one of those easier said than done things, right? For the record, I am trying. I don't want to waste a second chance.

Talk to the science community, maybe? See what anyone might know about it, what's been tried, figure out what sort of things worked or didn't, etc. Nah, I get that. But I guess my view is a bit skewed. I already died, so any time I get here is just a bonus, yanno? I don't...have stuff to go back to, or anything to even cling to here. That may be because I haven't been here very long, though. You're trying, though-- so you're not wasting it.

Investigate. Something to do I guess. Focus helps. Look at you being a genius.

I get it too. But yeah. Trying. We all keep our head above water however we can I guess.

Clearly you know better. But I guess I know the type. Sort of.

I know I know. Sometimes it'd be fucking great if the saying was "Anything worth doing is pleasant and effortless" but that's not the way the world works. Any world.
