Further to Detective Pikachu's posting, I want to note my agreement that a strong communication with the other detectives can only be a good thing for any real and perhaps more ordinary crimes going on that don't need superpowered beings to fight. In particular any murders, kidnappings or reckless endangerment created by imPorts. The various local police departments can of course handle other less threatening crimes and ones caused by regular citizens. Other imPorts who are or were police officers and law enforcement are welcome to also keep in contact so we can all be on the same page and have eyes in every city. Think of it as a united force, spread out but all working together when necessary.

I also want to take this time to announce that I am now officially working as a solo private investigator and I can be contacted and hired at my private number. While it's technically a business, I want to be fair so fees and expenses will be negotiable on a case by case basis. I want to have the public's best interests as a priority and solving your cases is my job. You are free to come to me for minor crimes as well.

I have moved recently to Maurtia Falls, away from Jeopardy, so any criminal activity in that particular area will be my focus. I believe we do have detectives in most other ImPort cities, if you live elsewhere, and once we have a clear set-up for communications, any cases outside of Maurita Falls can be forwarded to the correct authorities.

A number of imPorts are moving away from Jeopardy, it seems. Does the city really unsettle others that much?

I was assigned to Jeopardy when I arrived and I did what I could there.

To be perfectly honest, even without the weirdness and the apocalypse, it never was somewhere I felt right about. I'm from Pennsylvania, so that's why I asked for this transfer to Maurtia Falls.

As was I. It led me to asking if there was something cosmically relevant about Nevada that I hadn't heard about. The jury's still out on that one.

[ Knock Out hums a little at Loki's response, but that makes sense. The inclination to choose a place based on familiarity doesn't limit itself to humans. ]

Jeopardy's not bad, quirks aside. Can't go wrong with the neon-after-dark look, after all. And at least I don't have to wear snow tires here.

[ Said as if it's the most egregiously offensive thing to contemplate. ]

It's a bit too bright for me. I don't think lights should always be on.

I'm more used to the snow and the quiet.

[And it's not as if he has fond memories of the state he grew up in, but indeed that familiarity won out. He just never felt comfortable in Jeopardy.]

Please. I was over a million years old before I saw snow for the first time, and you know what? I wasn't missing much. Frozen water, boring. Go to a planet where it rains diamonds, now that's something to get excited over.

[ a long pause and then with an audible grimace: ]

Although I will concede that snow is a lot easier on my paint than pelting diamonds. That was a long buffing session to get those dents taken care of.

Kidding? You try getting hit with diamonds at terminal velocity and see what it does to your hide.

There's more than one. Diamonds are just carbon after all, which is hardly rare, and it's a big universe.

Humans can be very creative.

Unfortunately that creativity isn't always done for positive ends. That's where I step in.

I'm from Pennsylvania, so... Maurtia Falls is the closest thing to my home town. Jeopardy is way too different for my liking. Too much neon.

We don't get paid much. Here, I don't know how well this is going to go. I mean, less crime would be great, but also less income. I may have to pick up something else on the side to meet expenses.

Jeopardy isn't so bad, outside of the occasional apocalypse. All of that barren wasteland scenery of the desert does get a little fucking old, however. Must be nice for you, to find some semblance of home here. Me, I just like seeing trees again.

Shit, running out of bastards to hunt down isn't the first of your problems. I was a bounty hunter before I ever came here, and I got to tell you, all this stuff you're proposing to do doesn't sound so different. Better to make some contacts in this city for whenever trouble finds you.

I guess it is a bit like bounty hunting except I will be working within the law and working with the law.

You don't seem the type to make my kind of mistakes. Asking people for shit, relying on others for help...doesn't usually work well for me. Doesn't mean I can't still contribute to, oh, what do you people call it? The greater good.

Why wouldn't it be true? Have you had to deal with other cops who don't look out for the victims?

Sometimes, when something bad happens, the victims have to look out for themselves. No evidence, no justice, no arrests.

Just an empty grave and a name that fades on the wind. But that's another place, another time. I have hope, I think, that this fucking place might be different. But really, I guess shit like that is only up to people like you.

My chief would have reassured you by telling you that I've solved every case I've been assigned but that makes it sound easy and it certainly isn't.

I do what I can to follow up every lead and every clue, no matter how small it may seem. I talk to people and try to figure out who's lying and who knows something. Who the guilty party is.

It's not a perfect system and it takes a lot of hard work and long hours and knocking on doors and I've known a lot of cops who'll give up after a few hurdles but that's not me. I won't quit a case until the ones responsible are in custody and we have all the evidence we need for a conviction.

[His tone is very determined; as are his words. And it's true for him. He puts in everything when he's working on a case, risking health, sleep and his own life to get to the bottom of the crime.]
